Extractions: Felix Potvin was born in Anjou, Quebec, Canada on June 23, 1971. He played his junior hockey in a offense happy Quebec Major Hockey League, but was a standout goalie. He played in the World Junior Championships and was one of young, up and coming butterfly style goales. Felix was drafted in the second round of the 1990 NHL entry draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs . He played a season with the St John's affiliate of the AHL before making the jump to the NHL. He lead them to a conference final and was a great complement to the Leaf teams of the early 1990s that also included the likes of Doug Gilmour and Dave Andreychuk. His calm demeanor and very quick reflexes (and of course his first name) quickly got him the nickname - "The Cat" . He was a very good goalie though also a very quiet and private person.
