Main And the other inspiration: Playboy There was once a time when Playboy magazine wasn't hidden away behind a counter or wrapped in plastic. It was on the rack with all the other magazines and a young lad could furtively grab it, slip it between the pages of Sports Illustrated and gain entrance into a forbidden world. I confess to being one of those lads. For me, though, the cartoons held as much fascination as the photographs. Primed by the pulchritudinous females drawn by Jack Davis and Mort Drucker in MAD magazine, I was bedazzled by the artistic rendering of Playboy's curvaceous cartoon ladies. Even then, the jokes seemed a little lame. Now, the humor fairly reeks of an era when men in gray flannel suits ran the world and women were expected to be either homemakers in aprons or homewrecking secretaries in tight sweaters. But the artwork is still impressive and, every once in awhile, one of those sexy women finds her way into my work...

Megan goes to Emerald Ridge High School and is 5'5’ and weighs 132 pounds. Megan has swim practice three times a day, morning afternoon and evening. She gets up at 5 a.m. six days a week for her first practice of the day. She feels like she spends more time in the water than on land. In the spring of 1998, when Megan was 14, she earned her first national title in the 100m breaststroke and then broke the American Records in 100m and 200m breast at the U.S. Open. Megan has won three more national titles and set new U.S. records in the 100m breast twice. She was called Rookie of the Meet at the Pacific Championships in 1999. She swam with the winning 400m medley relay and got silver metal in 100m breast. In the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, Megan won two gold medals, one in the 100m breaststroke and another in the 4x100m medley relay. On Megan's closet door is list of people she wants to beat and when she beats one she crosses out their name in blue ink.

They seemed slightly incredulous when I responded that the event would be well covered by plenty of other journalists and, besides, no one had offered to pay my way. Still, I did wonder if they were right to think I needed to be there. Could it be I was going to be missing something big and game-changing in American politics? Now, having watched the rally on TV inside my cozy house on a rainy day, I think I made the right call. Oh, it was a very entertaining show and the crowd size was truly impressive. And, sure, it would have been fun to be on the scene.
