His work is often cited as embodying "Readercon-ness", as it explores and extends the dialogue between experience and imagination, between history and fantasy, between identity and society. His novels and short stories have won the World Fantasy Award, British Science Fiction Award, Arthur C. Clarke Award, the James Tiptree Jr. Award, induction into the Gaylactic Spectrum Hall of Fame, and so many other honors and nominations that they have their own Wikipedia entry . He last attended Readercon in 2008, where he spoke on panels such as "Rival Revolutionary Movements in the Arts" and "Reading Aloud for Writers." Gardner Dozois's twenty-year stint as the editor of Asimov's isone of the great editorial projects in our field. Year after year, he published some truly fine short fiction, including numerous award winners. Thanks to these achievements and his superlative annual anthologies, he has received a record-holding 15 Hugo Awards for Best Professional Editor. Though his writing career is sometimes overshadowed by his editorial work, his fiction has won two Nebula Awards and a Sidewise Award. He has also served as a judge for the Cordwainer Smith Rediscovery Award, a project dear to many Readercon attendees. Program Participants

Correction: Everyone wants to be a rebel. Of course, we're talking about socially acceptable rebellion, which of course includes buying the right consumables, wearing the correct rebellious clothes, and spouting the correct rebellious phrases. Rebellion is cool, so long as it doesn't go too far. Instead of messing with Mommy and Daddy's heads by starting a heroin habit or marrying a stripper (male or female, take your pick), try a different strategy. Nothing works quite so well to screw with society than to be courteous.

Many emulate the monarch butterfly (leave the birthplace, breed, and die), but others stand a chance of accomplishing a bit more. At the same time, any number of publications offer basic guides to student living, in the hopes that some of the little darlings remember that their parents pay for them to do something besides parade around Padre Island or Fort Lauderdale during spring break in a thong. Not only is this easy work for the author, but they're also reassuring for parents. However, none of them teach anything the students can use.

Riddell might be nice. I drafted some questions and mentioned that they could be used to define certain areas of interest. Circumstances prevented us from using that reviewer's work. However, we decided to proceed with the interview and to use my original questions for this interview. In the interim, he has left his job at SCI FI magazine and moved on to work for "Zealot" (http://www.zealot.com) and "Savant" (http://www.savantmag.com).

It turns out that travelers from all eras have been doing this and Shakespeare is excellent at merchandising himself. The literature he is interested in is SF because it is honest and entertaining. Extractions: Index Previous Next Home Xmas 1995 we breakfasted on fresh bread from the bread making machine. This diabolical R2D2 unfortunately wakes me when the timer starts the kneading stage, some three hours before the bread is ready. Xmas brought me a stainless steel frying pan, a microwave popcorn popper, a fridge thermometer, a microwave pizza tray, a microwave browning dish, a frozen food defrosting plate (actually a metal heat sink), a soft drink can sealer, several varieties of drink can holders for the fridge, and a book on the prospects of increasing human longevity. Not likely, with all that encouragement to overeat. I am delighted to have a week off between Xmas and New Year, as I can now work furiously getting a few fanzines done. It was, for example, never my intention that Gegenschein become an annual, yet #71 was November 1994, and many fans still don't have copies of #72, nominally (ha!) completed in August 1995. With us travelling to the USA for the second time in the year in October 1995, I just didn't have the time to mail the issue. Nor, really, did I want to spend the postage money, even seamail, on zines that might well be caught and lost in the Xmas mail madness. I did hand deliver a certain number at Ditto in Seattle, like Corflu, a convention at which one sees a certain welcome concentration of fanzine fans. However a distressing proportion have waited until after Xmas 1995! I regret this delay.
