Smog is low-lying ozone assembled of nitrogen oxides and reactive hydrocarbons, both of which lower immunities and promote respiratory infections. (Bluejay, 1999) Additionally, the atmospheric ozone is also affected by vehicle pollutants, or emissions. The same chemicals that cause smog also cause the atmospheric ozone to deplete, letting harmful ultraviolet rays into the earth’s environment.

The first workshop was held on May 19, 2010. A second workshop will be held in the next couple of weeks (date to be announced). This is an excellent time to weigh in on this issue. As most of you know the off spec natural gas in our area has restricted the installation of public natural gas fueling stations and the home filling units. For more details on the workshops check out the ARB website Southern California Gas Company gave a presentation Clean Vehicle Rebate Project The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has just announced a grant solicitation of $5 million for a Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP). The CVRP was is part of the AB 118 Air Quality Improvement Program Funding Plan for Fiscal Year 2010-11 and provides rebates of up to $5,000 for California purchasers of zero-emission and plug-in hybrid electric light-duty vehicles on a first come, first served basis.
