Chest Congestion Symptoms Goodpasture Syndrome is a disease that is not very commonplace. This disease is one that has a link between both the kidneys and the lungs. Goodpasture Syndrome is classified as an autoimmune disease. That means that the body launches an attack on its own healthy antibodies. In the case of Goodpasture Syndrome, it is both the lungs and the kidneys that are being affected. The symptoms of Goodpasture Syndrome are all like those of kidney failure which is acute. You would notice symptoms such as, (1) blood in the urine, (2) chest pain since the syndrome involves lungs, (3) dark urine, (4) feeling weak, (5) trouble in breathing, (6) upset stomach with vomiting, (7) bloody cough, (8) urine is foamy, (9) little urine output, (10) general feeling of illness. If you have any of these symptoms, seeing your doctor is a must as soon as possible. In diagnosing Good pasture Syndrome, the first thing your doctor will do is a urinalysis study. An overall physical will also reveal that the body is retaining fluids since you will have swelling. The heart and lungs will also have sounds that are abnormal such as wheezing, and chest congestion. After finding these abnormalities, the doctor will then do kidney blood tests.

Goodpasture syndrome is a disease that affects the kidneys and lungs. It usually involves rapidly progressive kidney failure that develops in days to weeks along with lung disease (cough, shortness of breath, and blood in the sputum). Some forms of the disease involve just the lung or kidney problems, not both. This means your body makes antibodies that attack your own body tissues. In this case, antibodies form against a certain type of protein called collagen. The collagen is present in the alveoli (tiny air sacs in the lungs) and in the glomeruli (the filtering units of the kidney). These antibodies are called anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies (or anti-GBM antibodies). Sometimes the disorder is triggered by a viral respiratory infection or by inhaling hydrocarbon solvents. In such cases, the immune system may attack organs or tissues because it mistakes them for these viruses or foreign chemicals.
