The campaign, geared at educational, religious, civic, and official circles, alerts to "a dangerous event in the city". It says: "Please be careful". Experts on youth affairs in schools and universities are wary of the festival, which is being held from Nov. 11-14 because it promotes "Gothic" and "Heavy Metal" music. Campaigners against the concerts are particularly worried about the closing parties of the festival, fearing youth will meet "and plunge deeper into their state of loss and cycle of confusion", said a campaigner who spoke on condition of anonymity. "We have nothing against the festival, and we know there are people who like rock music in Lebanon," she added.

This is due to the political consequences a major shift in the population dynamics an accurate census could have. The population is generally viewed in terms of religion. The predominant differences between people are those between Muslim and Christian sects. The proportion of each is politically sensitive so estimates from different sources vary widely. What is known is that approximately 90% of the population is urban rather than rural.
