Every state in the U.S. requires it and Louisiana is no exception. Louisiana teachers must complete a four year college or university degree in education from fully accredited institutions. Once a teacher is certified, the teacher is required to keep upgrading the certification until a Masters degree is attained. However, the teacher's education does not stop as Louisiana teachers holding Masters Degrees are required to earn continuing learning units in order to be renewed. This type of Louisiana certificate is valid for three years.
