It's best to completely unseat them and re-attach them to ensure you have a solid connection; a connector that looks and even feels like it's firmly attached may not be. And don't forget to check the power outlet and your surge protector. Some surge protectors come with fuses or circuit breakers that can be triggered by an intermittent power surge. Usually a surge protector has a small button that you can press to reset it and get the power flowing again. You might even try an alternative power cord to make sure that hasn't gone bad.

Used Computers and Monitors have routinely been thrown in landfills at the end of their lifecycles, despite laws prohibiting this practice. We make I.T. disposal environmentally safe and help the companies we buy from make money. Unlike other companies who just trade computer equipment, we didn't want to be just another middleman selling off lots to other resellers. We make the most of the equipment we purchase by refurbishing repairable hardware, stocking goods already re-manufactured by major brands and re-marketing all hardware ourselves under one roof. We are very proud of our ability to resell older technology to those who otherwise would not be able to afford it, and we pledge to you that we will deliver the best return for your surplus equipment.
Extractions: Display type At last, a real choice on the desktop: a standard CRT (cathode-ray tube) monitor or a flat-panel LCD (liquid-crystal display). LCD prices have fallen dramatically, while the cost of CRT monitors has declined gradually. You'll still pay a lot more for an LCDmodels larger than 15 inches remain luxury itemsand the speed, brightness, resolution, and color accuracy can't match those of a CRT. But people with limited space or easily fatigued eyes will find LCDs a welcome option. Screen size Most PCs come with a CRT monitor that measures 17 inches diagonally. Unless you're putting your own system together or replacing a defective 17 incher, you probably have an LCD or a 19-inch (or larger) CRT in mind. A 15-inch LCD costs roughly the same as a 19-inch CRT monitor. But be aware that CRT monitors are slightly smaller than they seem. On a standard 19-inch CRT monitor, for example, the CRT itself measures 19 inches diagonally, but the faceplate shaves about 1 inch off of the viewable area. With LCDs, all inches are viewable. As an added bonus, some LCD monitors can be rotated 90 degrees into portrait mode for a full view of documents. Dot pitch All CRT displays use tiny triads of red, green, and blue phosphor dots to produce what we perceive as a single dot of a designated color. Thousands of these dots form the image on the screen. The

IBM's 17P comes out on top here-or, more correctly, at the bottom. Its $1,199 list pricea little under $1,000 on the streetundercuts the competition by $300 to $450. Sony claims the midrange position with a list price of $1,499, or about $1,299 discounted, while NEC occupies the high ground with an estimated street price of around $1,455. (NEC's estimated prices closely reflect what you'll actually pay.) A low dot pitch (or aperture grill pitch, in the case of Trinitron tubes) translates into a sharper image. The 5FGp offers a 0.28mm dot pitch flatsquare tube, whereas the IBM and Sony models are based on Sony's 0.25mm aperture grill pitch Trinitron tube. While all three models boast sharp images, fine color saturation, and very good focus out to the edges of the screen, the 5FGp prevails in its display quality. Its colors are more vibrant, and its text is sharper. The 5FGp also marks the first time that NEC has included antiglare coating with one of its displays. NEC monitors have always been known for their exceptional brightness. In the past, however, the trade-off for this characteristic came in the form of glare. The 5FGp's new OptiClear antiglare coating reduces glare without significant impact on the monitor's estimable brightness. The 17P and 17se use more traditional silica coatings to reduce glare, which results in an image that's slightly less bright than the 5FGp's.
