Extractions: Principal’s Message Dear Parents, The 2006-07 school year has been another exciting one at St. George’s Elementary. We have celebrated our many successes and have developed, with the support of our school community, direction that our school will follow over the next few years. This report overviews our year and outlines our new School Development Plan for 2007-2011. Also highlighted are some very special events held at our school. I am proud to be a part of the St. George’s school community. Together, we have taken the time to look closely at our school and ways to make it even better. A special thank you to the staff who, through dedication and commitment, continue to support the initiatives that we undertake. Thank you as well to you, the parents, for supporting us and working with us for the common cause: our children. Each and every one of you have helped make my job that much easier.

Distinctive variations of spoken English and French and a rich material culture are also found in Newfoundland and Labrador. The roots of many aspects of this culture can be traced as far back as the seventeenth and even sixteenth centuries, when fishers visited the region for the annual harvest of cod or when
