Indiana presents an opportunity for teachers who are seeking higher pay and want to be in a state where teachers are in demand in rural and urban areas. With 54 percent of all Indiana teachers age 50 and older as of 2009, this demand will only continue to increase as these teachers begin to retire. Indiana teachers must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Indiana teachers must pass the state's licensing exam. These standards are in line with the standards described under Elementary and Secondary Education Act Section 200.55(c)(2)(C).
