This is based on estimates contained in a new study by economists Barry Standish and Antony Boting of the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business. According to the study, an average of R2 400 is spent per delegate per day on registration, accommodation, local travel and transportation, gastronomy and souvenirs when in Cape Town. The total spend of 5 000 delegates attending an average 5-day congress in Cape Town would thus be R60-million. The four recently secured events include the Youth Nuclear Congress 2010, to be attended by 350 nuclear professionals from 60 different countries in July 2010, and the 62nd International Astronautical Congress, which will see 2 000 delegates from space institutes across the world flying in to the city in October 2011. The 8th International Aquarium Congress, accommodating over 500 overseas delegates, will be hosted at the CTICC in September 2012. Then, in December 2014, another 2 000 delegates will gather for the Uni-Global Union Congress. More than 900 unions, representing over 15-million members, will be involved.

Liberating the human Spirit to achieve its potential is the name of the game, and that is precisely the Open Space experience. It could become the everyday experience. The Power of Spirit: How Organizations Transform (Berrett-Koehler) This book is about Spirit and the ways in which Spirit forms and transforms in organizations. In the face of organizational dysfunction and a massive outbreak of Soul Pollution (stress and burnout), the message of this book is clear. Things do not have to be this bad. Profits may be soaring, and so should the human Spirit, and it can – provided we learn to appreciate and care for Spirit's new manifestation in a transforming world. Extractions: AUTHOR Bibliographic Code: Abstract We present the current status of the space astrometry and photometry project STRUVE which is being designed at the Pulkovo Observatory (Russia) in cooperation with other Russian space institutes in order to extend the Hipparcos reference system. This project will include about 20 million stars down to V=19.5 mag. The proper motions of the Hipparcos stars are to be determined with the mean accuracy of about 0.1 mas/yr. The mean accuracy of star positions in the output catalogue is expected to be better than 0.6 mas. A properly designed micrometer will give the possibility of observing all objects on the sky down to V=14 mag.
