In October 2008, we met in Engelberg, Switzerland, and discussed topics such as the history of canine-human relationships in aboriginal Australia, animal welfare in Dutch livestock farming, veterinary public health in the WHO, and contagious animal diseases such as anthrax and psittacosis. Friends and colleagues from around the world also enjoyed the beauty ofthe Swiss mountains (and the local beer, wine and cheese).
