The date may be expanded forward for some traditions (German, Russian) for which the early modern period is later than for England, France, Italy, and Spain. The bibliography has several divisions. Primary sources are all listed in one bibliography. But secondary sources have been divided into three bibliographies. One lists single (or double) authored books on one or more writers (or period or area of interest). A second lists edited books (alphabetically by title) together with their tables of contents. A third lists stand-alone articles published in journals, or, in some cases, books in which only one or two essays are relevant.
