TWO KEMPE PANELS FROM
THE FRANKLIN COLLECTION Not Kempe
Angel Gabriel Kempe student Herbert Bryans
- Book of Wisdom
Some details shown below/ KEMPE at
Panel is Angel Gabriel. Size is 4' 1" High by 22" wide, measured
from lead borders to lead border. These measurements are not accurate enough to be used for making a wooden frame. CLICK IMAGE for LARGER VIEWS A bit more news about KEMPE As of December 18, Gabreal Franklin spoke with Philip Collins of the the Kempe Society, and these 2 panels will be registered with them. Then on Jan 25, 2003, Mr.Collins wrote, saying he believes The one holding the book is by Herbert Bryans (note the Running Dog logo on the book) It has proven to always be interesting digging into the past of these kinds of art objects. For example, the panel, at the left, is indeed Kempe. A least it has a Kempe Wreath signature. Not that we disagree with Mr. Phillips either. It is facinating to unravel. Thanks to Mr. Collins, more news on this to follow.

References are to the issue number, the date, and the page. References to the journal of the St Paul's Ecclesiological Society are in the form SPES, issue number, (date), page number. The first dozen years issues of the Newsletter are referred to in the form NL17 (newsletter 17). In 1993 the newsletter took up the title 'Ecclesiology Today'; references to issues since that date are by volume only, without the prefix 'NL'. The Society does not hold back copies of the Newsletter or SPES for sale. It is occasionally possible to photocopy individual items
