    Joe Montana
There's an old cartoon that shows everybody panicking, except for one guy, who is unruffled as he does his assigned task. In real life, that person is Joe Montana. He possessed an almost mystical calmness in the midst of chaos, especially with the game on the line in the fourth quarter. While others saw turmoil and danger after the snap, Montana saw order and opportunity. He was Joe Cool, the unflappable king of the comeback. Joe Montana led Notre Dame to national title in 1977; led San Francisco to 4 Super Bowl titles in 1980s; only 3-time Super Bowl MVP; 2-time NFL MVP (1989-90); led NFL in passing 5 times; missed all of 1991 season and nearly all of '92 after elbow surgery; traded to Kansas City in 1993; ranks 2nd in all-time in passing efficiency (92.3), 6th in TD passes (273) and yards passing (40,551).

Going one-on-one with Montana
Click here for more on this story Posted: Friday March 24, 2000 05:14 PM CNNSI.com Now that's he's retired from the NFL Joe Montana has thrown himself in to a new venture. He's editor-in-chief of a new magazine called, "In the Redzone." Montana spoke one-on-one with CNN/Sports Illustrated's Nick Charles about the publication, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Dan Marino and much more. Nick Charles : Whose idea was the magazine and what void does it fill on the sportsmarket? Joe Montana : Well, I kind of came up with this idea to try find a way to get back close to the game that I love so much and find a way to give back to the fans. I think the void that it fills is trying to get the fans and the NFL and the players and coaches and all involved in it a little closer together and give them [the fans] some insight. Charles : Joe, now that you're back in the mix, let's breeze through some subjects. How is Kurt Warner been able to rise from obscurity to NFL stardom?

    Montana Joe's Street of Dreams
By Garth Franklin Wednesday January 25th 2006 02:57PM Fred Roos ("The Godfather", "Lost in Translation") is producing "Street of Dreams," the true story of Japanese-American gangster Montana Joe reports Variety The $25 million-$30 million pic is fully financed by Japan's Kinema Motion Pictures, but will be shot entirely in Los Angeles. Roger Towne ("The Natural," "The Recruit"), who has researched the hoodlum for several years, wrote the screenplay. The film will cover the isolation and oppression of Japanese immigrant society in the California valley farm communities during the Depression; the internment of Japanese Americans during the 1940s and their role in the U.S. military during WWII; and Japanese gambling culture. The project has been planned since 2002, he said, but the spreading craze for poker - Montana Joe was a highly skilled player - has made it more immediately appealing at present. SHARE:
