The Official Web Site of Tyrus Raymond Cobb, containing a brief biography about his life.
http://www.cmgww.com/baseball/cobb/bio.html
A 1942 survey of former major league managers pointed the finger toward Ty Cobb as the greatest baseball player of all time. Many great players have surfaced on the diamond, but none out-hit, outplayed, or out-hustled the man they called "The Georgia Peach." According to the Elias Sports Bureau, during 24 seasons, most with the Detroit Tigers and a couple with the Philadelphia Athletics, Cobb compiled a .367 batting average, the highest in the history of the game. He is the leader in runs scored with 2,245, and was the all-time hit leader until the mid-1980s when Pete Rose eclipsed him. In 1936, Ty Cobb became the first inductee of baseball’s Hall of Fame, earning 222 out of a possible 226 votes.
His best years were 1911, when he led the league in every major offensive category but homers and batted a career high .420, and in 1915 when he stole 96 bases.
Ty paid the price for success. He would practice sliding until his legs were raw. He would place blankets along the base and practice bunting a ball on the basket. During the winter he hunted through daylight hours in weighted boots so that his legs would be strong for the upcoming campaign. He overlooked no opportunity to gain an edge over his opponents, most of whom admired his drive to succeed.

Cobb, Ty,
byname of TYRUS RAYMOND COBB, also called THE GEORGIA PEACH (b . Dec. 18, 1886, Narrows, Ga., U.S.d. July 17, 1961, Atlanta, Ga.), professional baseball player, frequently considered the greatest offensive player in baseball history and generally regarded as the fiercest competitor in the game. During his 24-season playing career in the American League, Cobb set a batting record for runs of 2,244 and of runs batted in of 1,959, not surpassed until the mid-1970s. Cobb's mark of 892 stolen bases was surpassed only in 1979 and his lifetime batting average of .367 remained unequalled in the 1980s. He led the American League in batting 12 times, gaining nine titles in a row (1907-15). Three times he hit over .400 (1911, .420; 1912, .410; and 1922, .401), and for 23 straight years he batted at least .300. His record of 96 stolen bases in 1915 was unbroken until 1962. Cobb became a major league player with the Detroit Tigers of the American League in 1905, when he was 18. He spent 22 seasons as an outfielder with the Tigers and managed them from 1921 through 1926. A member of the Philadelphia Athletics when he retired in 1928, Cobb hit .323 in his last season. He was a left-handed batter and right-handed thrower, stood about six feet one inch, and weighed 175 pounds. In the first election to the Baseball Hall of Fame, in 1936, Cobb received the most votes. He invested his baseball earnings shrewdly and was affluent in private life. His autobiography

The actor on playing the Nietzschean warrior Tyr Anasazi.
By Michelle Erica Green December 18, 2000
Keith Hamilton Cobb, who plays genetically enhanced Nietzschean warrior Tyr Anasazi on Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda , has no problem relating to the 'elegant, articulate tower of attitude' that is his character. 'I'm like Tyr in every respect,' observes Cobb in his resonant baritone. 'Everything that I in my genteel social upbringing have been taught not to do, he can do. Unfortunately, I'm not genetically enhanced. It's sort of like 'Keith on steroids.'' A popular soap opera actor and one of People Magazine 's 'Most Beautiful People in the World' four years ago, Cobb had his

Welcome to "Recount" Viewers
Just in time to vaccinate us for the 2008 election, the Hollywood movie "Recount" provides us with a close look at the ways the GOP stole the 2000 election in Florida. Kevin Spacey stars as Al Gore's legal advisor Ron Klain, Tom Wilkinson is George Bush's top deputy James Baker III, and Laura Dern provides a great performance as Florida Secretary of State and Bush re-election co-chair Katherine Harris. Once you have seen the movie, spend a few minutes here to discover how they did it again in Ohio in 2004. Then decide how you want to prevent it from happening in your state during this campaign season.

In The Mirror with Keith Hamilton Cobb
By Keith Boykin, in pop culture
Friday, October AM I first remember seeing Keith Hamilton Cobb some time in the 1990s. He was on television even then. A tall, attractive, physically imposing man, he was memorable for his looks alone. When I found out we had the same name, however, I remembered that as well. Over the years I casually followed his career from the soap operas to the sci-fi shows , and most recently to Noah's Arc . I've even downloaded some pictures of him from the Internet in the past. So of all the actors in this season's Noah's Arc, it's not surprising that I'm most intrigued by Keith Hamilton Cobb. It's not only who he is, but the character he plays that interests me. The character is a guy named Quincy, a black gay author, media personality, activist and blogger. If that sounds familiar to you, it's supposed to, as I found out when I spoke to Keith this week for my final interview in the Noah's Arc interview series
INTERVIEW WITH KEITH HAMILTON COBB
BOYKIN: Hi Keith. Thanks for doing the interview. So let me get started. What made you become an actor?

Birthday Calendars
also found Here It was a brain child of the message board's charming Lea to produce a birthday calendar with Haiku poetry for Keith Hamilton Cobb in the fall of 2001. I volunteered to produce the calendar because of my photo editing skills and the availability of the calendar formatted program that I possess.
The 2002 Calendar
The first year, was the roughest. Chasing after participants and trying to convince them that file size matters. Forgiving those who did not have the skills to write Haiku poetry and searching the web for suitable illustrations to accompany their poems when they where not able to produce one themselves. It was completed in a timely manner, reports of it's arrival in New York where noted. All 3 of the calendar I produced where completed on schedule. The first calendar was smaller than a standard sized page, printed on heavy bond and bound with white ribbons so that it would hang from an amethyst tie tack of my design that accompanied it. Myself I chose October, but since no one had volunteered to do Sept. I took a silly poem from my friend Echick and used her monkey avatar as comedy relief for September.
