Abstract:
Claims:
A method for monitoring and estimating the carrying capacity of a pre-stressed ferromagnetic metal armature element of a metal-concrete load-bearing structure comprising the steps of:preliminary calibrating the element by passing electric current therethrough and measuring its electrical resistance with respect to the tension stress applied to said element;determination of an ultimate resistance value corresponding to a predetermined ultimate limit stress value permitted to said element;saving the ultimate resistance value in a computer memory;passing electric current through said element during construction or exploitation of said load-bearing structure being in a loaded state;measuring altered resistance of said element;comparing the altered resistance with said ultimate resistance value; andwarning when the altered resistance reaching said ultimate resistance value.
The method according to claim 1, wherein said electric current being an alternating current.

This page lists people who are very well known in the Soviet Union and may be around the globe. As you can see very many of soviet geniuses were born or lived for quite a long time in Odessa. I know that some people especially from Moscow will say: "What the hell is he talking about. All of them lived in Moscow." Yes, this is true but don’t forget that Moscow is the capital of the biggest country in the world. In Russia you had to live there in order to get anywhere. At the same time Odessa is just a city which brought up so many talented people. Of course this is not a complete listing, just an example. If you think that someone is missing from this list please send mail to add-name-request@odessit.com

Russian physicist and school teacher, regarded as the founder of modern rocket theory. Born in the small town of Izhevskoye exactly 100 years before his country placed the world's first artificial satellite in orbit (the launch of Sputnik 1 was timed to commemorate his birth), Tsiolkovsky developed the mathematics of rocketry and pioneered a number of ideas crucial to space travel including that of multistage launch vehicles. He later recalled:
Early years
At age nine, Tsiolkovsky went deaf following a bout of scarlet fever, an event that prevented him from attending school but led him to become an avid reader. An early interest in flight and model balloons was encouraged by his parents. His mother died when he was 13 and his father was poor, but he taught himself mathematics, and went to technical college in Moscow. There he found an enlightened mentor named Nikolai Fyodorov (whose admirers were said to include Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, and Leonid Pasternak, Boris' father). Fyodorov tutored the young Tsiolkovsky in the library daily for some three years, introducing him to books on mathematics and science and discoursing with him on the philosophical imperative leading humankind towards space exploration.
In 1878, Tsiolkovsky became a math teacher in Kaluga, two hours south of the capital. Although he carried out some experiments with steam engines, pumps, and fans in his home laboratory and built one of the first

Chicago Blackhawks, professional ice hockey team and one of five teams in the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Blackhawks play at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, and wear uniforms of black, red, and white. The team was originally formed as the Portland Rosebuds of the Western Hockey League. Major Frederic McLaughlin purchased the club in 1926 and moved it from Portland, Oregon, to Chicago. He renamed the team the Blackhawks after the 33rd Machine Gun Battalion of the United States Army’s Blackhawk Division, which he had commanded during World War I (1914-1918). The Blackhawks were a powerful team in the NHL in the 1930s, winning the Stanley Cup championship in 1934 and 1938. During the 1960s and early 1970s the team was led by Bobby Hull at left wing and Stan Mikita at center, and Chicago advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals five times. In the 1960s Hull and Mikita each earned two Hart Memorial Trophies as the NHL’s most valuable player (MVP).
The Blackhawks joined the NHL in 1926, when the league expanded from seven to ten teams and divided into two divisions—the American and the Canadian. Chicago first reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 1931. The Blackhawks captured their first league title in 1934, defeating the Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals. In 1932 and 1934 goalie Charlie Gardiner, who anchored the team’s remarkable defense, earned the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s best goalie.
