There are centre forwards who thrill the crowds - and then there are centre forwards who please their striking partners - Teddy Sheringham falls into the second category. Play him alongside any other forward and nine times out of ten the end result will be greater than the sum parts. Sheringham, born in Walthamstow, started his career with Millwall as an apprentice and worked his way through the club junior sides before making his first team debut in January 1984 against Bournemouth. He had a spell out on loan at Aldershot but returned to The Den to become a fixture in the side during the 1986-87 season when he scored 18 goals. His partner in crime at Millwall was Tony Cascarino and in the 1987-88 season this pairing scored 42 goals as Millwall reached the First Division for the first time ever. Millwall had a good first season but were relegated the next year however back in Division Two Sheringham, again proved he was a potent striker with 33 League goals, 38 in all games - a tally which equalled the club record set by Richard Parker in 1926-27 and Peter Buridge in 1960-61.

Histon 0-0 Gateshead
08/03/2010, by Jeff Bowron Gateshead picked up a point in their battle for Blue Square Premier survival - but were disappointed it wasn't all three in Cambridgeshire. Hosts Histon hadn't scored for three games and, while their front pair were lively, they were unable to prevent the barren spell in front of goal from reaching four games. This goalless stalemate meant only two goals have been scored in the Tynesiders last three games - one at each end - and the one conceded was disputed. The back four are looking much more solid but the flip side is that goals have been hard to come by at the other end. Unlike in the midweek defeat at Tamworth the Tynesiders created chances at the Glassworld Stadium but didn't take them. "We created four clear cut chances, three of them in the second half, and at this level you have to make it count," said coach Paul Thompson. "Brian Wake had two one-on-one chances and Daryl Clare and Peter Winn also spurned good openings and we should have got the win we were looking for. "We should have had more than one point from our away games at Tamworth and Histon this week and the fact we haven't keeps the pressure on.

Up close with Teddy Sheringham on Money Matters
October 11th, 2009 by admin Who is Teddy SHeringham? Teddy Sheringham, 43, was the oldest man to have played in all four English football leagues before he retired last year. He was awarded an OBE in 2007 and currently lives near Epping with his girlfriend Kristina. His most famous club that he played for was as a striker for Manchester United Culb and England team. How did your childhood influence your attitude towards money?
Some of the big names in football who played in the 1970s and 1980s probably wished they played in the current era, but the way I see it, they were earning more than the average person and if you managed your finances sensibly, then you would okay. Nowadays, the money has escalated beyond all belief, really. Did your parents really make you earn your pocket money?

Oh Teddy Teddy, He went to Man U and won the lot. Teddy Sheringham holds the distinction of achieving the most of all ex-Lions, Winning League Championships, The FA Cup, The ZDS Cup, The European Champions League and winning over 50 England Caps and appearing in two World Cup Finals Tournaments . He also has to go down as the most successful in a Millwall shirt, being the club record goal scorer and having a Second Division Championship medal and having played top flight football. Teddy, never blessed with pace developed from a first rate target man to a stylish and Intelligent playmaker who would bring out the best in his strike partners. Teddy almost missed out on a career in professional football, having had trials at Tottenham, Orient and Palace as a youngster without being snapped up. Just before his 16th Birthday he played for Isthmian League side Leyton and Ilford in a Youth Team game v Millwall. Chief Scout Bob Pearson and Youth Team Manager Roger Cross invited Teddy for a six game trial and he impressed enough to be offered a two year apprenticeship. During this apprenticeship, Teddy won 11 England Youth Caps and regularly scored goals in the Midweek League and Football Combination. Teddy was to get an early taste of silverware when selected for The Millwall squad to take part in London Evening Standard Five a Side tournament. Although Roger Wynter and Andy Massey were the stars of the show in wining Millwall team, Teddy played his part in all the games. As a reward, Teddy, Roger Wynter and John Neal were named amongst the five subs for the Football League Trophy Final against Lincoln, which Millwall won 3-2. With Millwall battling against relegation to the Fourth Division that season, there was no opportunity to blood youngsters in league games, so Teddy had to bide his time.
