No one has drawn such love from a crowd as this gentleman of sport - Andre Agassi. It was so special that he openly shared this tremendous moment of pure emotion with all of us. We love you Andre!.

Andre Agassi gives us one of the greatest, most thrilling (yet scary) matches ever as he beat Marcos Baghdatis 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 7-5 in front of an excited and loyal crowd. To all those who doubted he should continue after the 2005 US Open final, this is proof that he still had some magic left to bring to the court.

    ANDRE AGASSI
Andre Agassi was born on 29 April 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
    ANDRE AGASSI BIOGRAPHY
Andre Agassi was born on April 29, 1970, to Mike and Betty Agassi. His father, a former boxing champ and Olympian from Iran, settled in Las Vegas taking work as a tennis instructor. And as soon as little Andre Agassi could walk, Mike taped a racket to his son's hand and hung a tennis ball over his crib.
''He was convinced that if my eyes are going to move around as a little baby, I might as well be looking at a tennis ball,'' says Andrew Agassi.
By the age of 10, Andre Agassi was beating fellow up-and-coming US players including Pete Sampras, Jim Courier and Michael Chang. Aged 13, he'd simply learned all he could from his dad. Mike shipped his son off to legendary coach Nick Bollettieri's famed tennis boot camp in Bradenton, Florida. Full Biography

American tennis ace. In 1993 he briefly met five-year-older actress Brooke Shields. They had both been child stars, were both religious and both in a career slump. They began sending each other notes and faxes, then talking on the phone for hours. By the time they got together in December, meeting in an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, Shields said she was already smitten. Their excitement together spilled over into their professional lives. Andre Agassi
Tennis Player Born: 29 April 1970 Birthplace: Las Vegas, Nevada Best known as: Steffi Graf's husband, the tennis champ In two decades of tennis, U.S. player Andre Agassi went from being the young rebel with glam-rock hair to the grand "old man" with a head as smooth as a clay court and one of the greatest players in the game's history. He began playing professionally in 1986, and by 1988 had won more than $2 million in prize money. Throughout the 1990s, men's tennis was dominated by the back-and-forth rivalry of Agassi and Pete Sampras . Agassi's flashy clothes, stylish hair and bad-boy attitude were the perfect counterpoint to Sampras's steady, clean-cut power game. In his career Agassi won more than 850 singles matches, including 60 titles, 8 Grand Slams and an Olympic Gold Medal (Atlanta, 1996). In later years Agassi shaved his head and became a more sober and beloved figure in tennis, still ranking highly after 20 years in the game. In 2005 he made it to the finals of the U.S. Open at age 35 (he lost to Roger Federer ). Plagued by back problems, he retired after losing in the third round the 2006 US Open. He surprised fans by admitting, in his 2009 autobiography, that he had used the drug crystal meth in 1997 and had lied to hide his use from tennis officials.

Other Resources Although his talent and athletic ability were obvious, many tennis writers and fans wondered for a time if Agassi was more style than substances. With his long blond hair and his fluorescent outfits, he was famous, or notorious, for several years before he won a major title. Some people, including Agassi, wondered if he would ever win one of the grand slam events until he finally broke through at Wimbledon in 1992. Agassi turned professional in 1986, shortly after his sixteenth birthday, and he won the last tournament of that year and the first tournament of 1988. He advanced from 25th to 4th in the computer rankings by winning six championships in 1988. Twice he went to the semi-finals of a grand slam event, losing both times, to Mats Wilander in an exciting five-set match at the French Open and to Ivan Lendl in four sets at the U. S. Open. However, he didn't win a single tournament in 1989 and reached the finals only once, in the Italian Open. Agassi beat Germany's Boris Becker in the semi-finals of the 1990 U. S. Open, but lost to Pete Sampras in the final match, and he was beaten by little-known Andres Gomez in French Open final. His frustrations reached a peak in 1991, when he lost to Jim Courier in the semi-finals of the U. S. Open. Until then, Agassi had been the most successful graduate of the Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida, but he was now ranked behind his classmate Courier.
