St. Colette
(Diminutive of NICOLETTA, COLETTA). Founder of Colettine Poor Clares (Clarisses), born 13 January 1381, at Corbie in Picardy, France ; died at Ghent , 6 March, 1447. Her father, Robert Boellet, was the carpenter of the famous Benedictine Abbey of Corbie ; her mother's name was Marguerite Moyon. Colette joined successively the Bequines, the Benedictines , and the Urbanist Poor Clares . Later she lived for a while as a recluse . Having resolved to reform the Poor Clares , she turned to the antipope Benedict XIII ( Pedro de Luna ), then recognized by France as the rightful pope Benedict allowed her to enter to the order of Poor Clares and empowered her by several Bulls dated 1406, 1407, 1408, and 1412 to found new convents and complete the reform of the order. With the approval of the Countess of Geneva and the Franciscan Henri de la Beaume , her confessor and spiritual guide, Colette began her work at Beaume , in the Diocese of Geneva . She remained there but a short time and soon opened at her first convent in an almost abandoned house of Urbanist Poor Clares . Thence her reform spread to Auxonne (1410), to

Colette (1873-1954) - in full Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette French novelist, whose career spanned from her early 20s to her mid-70s. Colette's main themes were joys and pains of love, and female sexuality in the male-dominated world. All her works are more or less autobiographical but Colette intentionally blurred the boundaries between fiction and fact. She wrote over 50 novels and scores of short stories. "By means of an image we are often able to hold on to our lost belongings. But it is the desperateness of losing which picks the flowers of memory, binds the bouquet." Mes Apprentissages Sidonie-Cabrielle Colette was born in the Burgundian village of Saint-Sauveur-en Puisaye. She was the daughter of a retired army captain, Jules-Joseph Colette. He had lost a leg in the Italian campaign and worked as a taxcollector with local political aspirations. Colette's mother, Adele Eugenie Sidonie Landoy, known as 'Sidonie' or 'Sido', was an unconventional character, a down-to-earth personality, devoted to her pets, books, and garden. Colette spent a happy childhood in rural surrounding, the scene of her many novels. At the age of 20 Colette married the writer and music critic Henri Gauthier-Villars, ('Monsieur Willy'); he was 15 years her senior. Biographers have labelled her first husband as a literary charlatan and degenerate.

    COLETTE

            Ratatouille
Colette Tatou is the only female cook in Chef Skinner's kitchen. She is a capable cook, hard working and very tough to enter the masculine world of haute cuisine. She had defended Linguini from being fired as a garbage boy when Skinner caught him 'cooking' the soup in which Remy had made. She takes Linguini under her wing and teaches him the skills necessary to survive in the fast-paced kitchen. She was at first unaware of Luigini's admiration for her. Colette felt disgruntled when Skinner took a personal interest into Luigini, which in fact Skinner was trying to force the truth of Lingini's cooking. The next day, she told a drunken Linguini that she thought he believed she was different, and stormed out when Linguini heeded her no attention. Linguini awakes, and was about to tell her the truth. Colette was initially puzzled by his actions and raving behavior, and slips a hand into her bag for a canister of mace. Remy desperately makes Linguini fall onto Colette to prevent him talking further and the two kiss. Colette was equally surprised as Linguini but quickly falls in love, dropping the mace. They rapidly blossom a romantic relationship.
