Los Angeles Examiner and later served as a merchant seaman. In 1954 he unofficially attended Harvard University, where students contributed to the publication of his first collection of poems, The Vestal Lady on Brattle and Other Poems. Two years later he joined Ginsberg in San Francisco, where Lawrence Ferlinghetti published his volume of poems Gasoline . In 1957 Corso joined Kerouac and Ginsberg for a series of unconventional readings and interviews. Since that time he has traveled extensively, especially in Mexico and Eastern Europe. He taught briefly at the State University of New York at Buffalo and occasionally during summer sessions at the Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. His major publications after Gasoline include The Happy Birthday of Death The American Express Long Live Man Elegaic Feelings American Herald of the Autochthonic Spirit (1981), and Mindfield (1991). Though he never gained the truly widespread fame that his fellow Beats enjoyed, his work continues to have an impact on contemporary poetics. His poetry has earned praise from many. A diciassette anni progetta una rapina per cui poi viene arrestato; in carcere conosce la letteratura del grande Ottocento e scrive poesie già verso la fine degli anni Quaranta. Nel '50 conosce Ginsberg per caso al Greenwich Village. Va ad Harvard e diviene un topo di biblioteca, mentre continua la sua produzione poetica. Le Opere La prima raccolta di poesie è The Vestal Lady on Brattle a cui segue un periodo di connessione culturale europea. Sempre negli stessi anni stabilisce anche rapporti con i maggiori esponenti della Beat Generation. Nei primi anni Sessanta invece, dopo un infelice matrimonio e una sfortunata esperienza come professore, si trasferisce in Europa per circa due anni. Nel '62 pubblica Long Live Man e nel '70 Elegiac Feelings American , collaborando sporadicamente nel cinema e nel teatro. Estos tipos eran especie de vagos sin oficio ni beneficio, "negros blancos", les decían. Su costumbre “profesional” era merodear por los sitios de la peor calaña, con la conciencia llena a tope de droga y los sentidos delirantes de música. El jazz los hacía levitar. Estaban al margen de la vida formalizada a horarios de oficina y sus costumbres consumistas. Esto me recuerda al “sueño de vida regio” que tanto promueven en Ciudad Mascota. Cuentan los manuales de literatura que Jack Kerouac se enteró de los "hipster" (el existencialista americano), se gracias William Burroughs (autor del alucinado librito Naked Lunch) quien tenía un amigo llamado Herbert Huncke. En una de las presentaciones de rigor, Huncke dijo: "I'm beat, man". La palabra "beat" pasó a significar algo así como "arruinado", "estar en el foso" o "hecho polvo" en la idea de Huncke. Sin embargo "beat" va referida así mismo a "beatitud", santidad, pero una SANTIDAD producto de la angustia existencial, de esos seres alejados de la mirada de Dios. Eso era un escritor maldito, en toda la extensión de la palabra.
