I am researching my family of Pitkin and Burley and my husband's lines of Cummings and Hamelin.
The Pitkin line is quite extensive, actually going back through the royal families of England, Scotland and some in Europe.
The Burley line is a puzzle I would love some assistance with.
I cannot get past three generations and have family lore that the family came from New York before arriving in Michigan.
The Cummings line is also extensive, dating back to 1600, but I would welcome any information beyond that point. It is said that Isaac Cummings was Scottish but I have not been able to prove that fact. This would be very important to me as my husband is the president of Clan Cumming Society in the USA and the sole representative of the clan chief Sir William Gordon Cumming of Altyre, Scotland. The Hamelin line on one side goes back quite a bit, the name Dion was changed from Guyon at some time. This family is from Canada and migrated through Maine into the United States.

Alan J. Cumming Family Tree
Updated October 23, 2008
After well over 15 years of researching my family tree, I have become the unofficial genealogist of my family. It has been very rewarding and fun to learn all about my family. My father is the first generation American born. His father and mother were both from Scotland. This has been the hardest research of my tree. I have met new and distant relatives who have come to my site to search for family members.
My paternal grandfather side is CUMMING from Scotland. I have done some extensive research into my Scottish line and have also found relatives in Canada and England. Other names in the Cumming side are BROTHERSTONE, CONNORS, DEANS, DIXON, DODD, FYFE, GOODFELLOW, GREIG, JENNINGS, LAING, McDONALD, McKAY, SCOTT, and STEPHENSON.
My paternal grandmother's side was DALLAS also from Scotland. There is also the family name FERGUSON, STRUTHERS, SPENCE, SUTHERLAND and YOUNG.
I am also researching the WILLIAMS Family from Clearfield County Pennsylvania. This is maternal Grandmother's side. Edward Hurd Williams b.1805 is my ggg-grandfather married to Elizabeth Schmehl. This is my maternal grandmother's line. There is also the family name of HUMMEL.

Edward Estlin Cummings (1894-1962) - e e cummings Humanity i love you because
when you're hard up you pawn your
intelligence to buy a drink.

(from 'Humanity i love you' Edward Estlin Cummings was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His father was a Harvard teacher and later a Unitarian minister. Cummings was educated at Cambridge High and Latin School, and from 1911 to 1916 he attended Harvard, where he met John Dos Passos. Cummings became an aesthete, he began dress unconventionally, and dedicated himself to painting and literature. He graduated in 1915 with a major in classics. With Dos Passos and others he published in 1917 Eight Harvard Poets The Enormous Room (1922), in which he drew acidly funny sketches of the jailers and sympathetic portraits of prisoners. It was followed by collections of verse, Tulips and Chimneys (1923), which contrasted the evils of war to the 'sweet spontaneous earth', and XLI Poems (1925). In the 1920s and1930s Cummings divided his time between Paris, where he studied art, and New York, where he had a child with a friend's wife.

E. E. Cummings Edward Estlin Cummings (October 14, 1894 – September 3, 1962), abbreviated E. E. Cummings , was an American poet , painter, essayist, and playwright. His publishers and others have sometimes echoed the unconventional capitalization in his poetry by writing his name in lower case, as e. e. cummings ; Cummings himself did not approve of this rendering. Cummings is probably best known for his poems and their unorthodox usage of capitalization, layout, punctuation and syntax. There are extensive word gaps, line breaks and omitted punctuation marks. Grammar and word order are sometimes odd and he tends to condense many words into a single word. Despite Cummings' affinity for avant garde styles and for unusual typography, much of his work is traditional, as can be seen in his sonnets . Cummings' poetry often deals with themes of love, nature and the relationship between the individual and society. The Enormous Room , written while a prisoner of war, is considered his spiritual autobiography. In this work Cummings sets up parallels between his journey and that of John Bunyan's

Edward Estlin Cummings was born at home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, October 14, 1894. He began writing poems as early as 1904 and studied Latin and Greek at the Cambridge Latin High School. He received his B.A. in 1915 and his M.A. in 1916, both from Harvard. His studies there introduced him to avant garde writers, such as Gertrude Stein and Ezra Pound In 1917, Cummings published an early selection of poems in the anthology Eight Harvard Poets . The same year, Cummings left the United States for France as a volunteer ambulance driver in World War I. Five months after his assignment, however, he and a friend were interned in a prison camp by the French authorities on suspicion of espionage (an experience recounted in his novel

Jim Cummings "You know you've made it when you become a Jeopardy question."
My favorite voice-over actor, other than Christine Cavanaugh , of course, Jim Cummings is my current obsession, along with Darkwing Duck. I first became interested in Mr. Cummings while watching Darkwing Duck, one of my childhood faves that just went back into syndication. I had already started voice chasing by that time, and was watching the credits, when I saw his name flash by. Where have I heard the name Jim Cummings before? I asked no one in particular. My sister, who, at the time, was more of a voice chaser than myself (if that is humanly possible), said that she didnt know, but it sounded familiar. The next week, having forgotten the aforementioned night, I was watching Cat-Dog, and, when the credits came on, asked the same question. Eventually, I put two and two together, and realized they sounded faintly similar to the guard on Aladdin, which I soon learned was him, also. Since then, I have found several DW and Jim Cummings web pages that have pushed me farther into my obsession. Its surprising how many people my age, and older, truly adore Darkwing. "Darkwing Duck and Don Karnage are the most fun to do, because they're both probably the closest to me I kinda improvise a lot of them, kinda ad lib."
