You dont get the answers in the back of the book, no rationales. I am currently looking for a med-surg book that is easier to read in order to really understand the content. This book isnt it. Contains a rare chapter on anesthesia This is one of the very few medical surgical nursing texts to contain a chapter on anesthesia written by an anesthesia provider (CRNA) that describes why the anesthesia department wants certain preoperative preparations, why those preparations are important, and how anesthesia affects patients postoperatively.

How can time pass so quickly? It seems like yesterday that I was getting e-mail from those same readers exulting, “School’s out! No more dumb author reports till next fall!” Well, here's some exciting news Little Brown, the publisher who brought out my early suspense novels, has decided to publish new, updated editions with wonderful new covers. During this past year I've had the fun of bringing those stories into the 21st Century. I haven't changed the characters or plots those have held strong over the years but I've been able to up-date the language (which was sometimes sort of old-fashioned) and the clothing (which was definitely old fashioned polyester pantsuits ?) and the hair styles. Most important, I've given my characters computers and cell phones and digital cameras.

    Biography
Lois Duncan grew up in Sarasota, Florida, the daughter of internationally known magazine photographers, Joseph and Lois Steinmetz. She has one younger brother. From early childhood, she knew she wanted to be a writer. She submitted her first story to a magazine at the age of ten and made her first sale at thirteen to a magazine called Calling All Girls. Throughout her high school years she wrote regularly for young people's magazines, particularly Seventeen. In 1962, Lois moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she taught for the Journalism Department at the University of New Mexico and continued to write for magazines. Over 300 of her articles and short stories appeared in such publications as Ladies Home Journal, Redbook, McCall's, Good Housekeeping, and Reader's Digest, and for a number of years she was a contributing editor for Woman's Day. Lois is also the author of 48 books, ranging from children's picture books to adult novels, but she is best known for her young adult suspense novels. Many of those have been chosen as American Library Association "Best Books for Young Adults" and Jr. Literary Guild Selections, and they have won Young Readers Awards in 16 states and three foreign countries. In 1992, Lois received the Margaret A. Edwards Award, presented by the School Library Journal and the Young Adult Library Services Association, to honor a living author for a distinguished body of adolescent literature.

A movie loosely based upon my novel, I Know What You Did Last Summer, opened in theaters around the country. I was ecstatic until I settled into a theater seat with my box of popcorn and discovered that Hollywood had turned my teenage suspense story into a slasher film. The setting had been changed from the mountains of New Mexico to a fishing village on the East Coast...

I've haven't updated this site in a very, very long time. Ack! However, Lois Duncan has been on the ball more than me. About a year ago, Lois Duncan published an autobiography in poetry form called Season of the Heart . For more information, go here , or go to the nearest online bookstore like Amazon.com for more information. I haven't purchased the book, but I have seen excerpts from it online. If you haven't heard by now, Lois Duncan's children's book, Hotel for Dogs , is being made into a movie. Duncan will soon publish a sequel called Newspaper for Dogs . As far as I know, there is no release date for the sequel yet.
