Life Sketch of Margaret M. Forster
I put this into its present type script form, from the orininal hand written accounts of Margaret McCulloough Forster. One can see that they were written by a son or daughter of Margaret M. Forster, but I can not tell as of yet which one to credit. I like to think that Jemima R. Forster is the one who put pencil to paper here, but I suppose we will never know for sure Update: The Mendon DUP has record of Jemima R. Forster as the one who gave this history, so I suppose the author has been found.
Margaret McCullough Forster
Margaret McCullough Forster was born of well to do parents, May 26 th , 1828 in Glasgow, Scotland. When she was a mere child her father died leaving her mother with two small children, her brother died quite young. Shortly after the death of her father her mother married again. When she was six year of age her mother passed away leaving her in the care of her stepfather. He soon married and being raised with stepparents she did not learn much about her own relatives, as they did not seem to want to tell her much about them. At the age of eighteen she was married to Ralph Forster, they lived in Scotland a while and then moved to Durham, England. It was here they first heard the Mormon Elders and after attending their meetings they embraced the gospel and like all other saints who embraced the gospel in early day they desired to gather with the Saints to Zion. They left their native land March 12 th

portrait of an artist Daphne du Maurier was a consummate artist and Forster's excellent biography portrays her sympathetically, yet realistically. To begin to understand du Maurier one must understand that she considered fantasy more exciting than the real world. A child of privilege, Daphne grew up in a highly social and colorful artist's family, yet she greatly valued being alone. Her work was very lucrative, yet she spent much more money to help family and friends than on herself. Her writing is part of college curriculum and extremely popular. She was accepted into the Order of Knighthood for her contribution to the arts. Forster's apparently well-researched biography is written in a casual style, often humorous. Many people have something to say about Daphne and I found her own quotes the most interesting, yet, chameleon-like, she eludes the reader and remains mysterious.

      Forster, Margaret. Lady's maid
Kliatt March, 2008 by Sue Rosenzweig
FORSTER, Margaret. Lady's maid. Read by Carole Boyd. 19 cds. 22.75 hrs. BBC Audiobooks America. 1990/2005. 978-0-7927-4859-5. $134.95. Vinyl; plot, author, reader notes. A Forster has written a biography of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, so this fictionalized biography from the point of view of her maid "Wilson," told mostly through letters, really rings true. Boyd's narration enhances the Upstairs, Downstairs depiction of the differences between servants and masters/mistresses during the 19th century. Many characters, many accents, and much detail are handled deftly by the reader, who also provides an excellent understanding of time and place. Adults who have an avid interest in the poet and/or the period will find this fascinating. Young adults would do better with an abridgment of this very long book. Sue Rosenzweig, Consultant, Lincoln, RI ARecommended for advanced students and adults. This code will help librarians and teachers working in high schools where there are honors and advanced placement students. This also will help extend KLIATT's usefulness in public libraries.
