Reading the Spanish at first was a bit laborious, but with the help of the side-by-side translation, I soon became quite engrossed in the story and the imagery. If you are looking for a book that helps you learn sentence structure and Spanish syntax, this isn't particularly helpful as Fuentes departs from normal patterns and waxes poetic to the point of being a bit bizarre. However, I became so interested in the story that I switched to reading the English first and then went to the Spanish to fill out the imeragery.
