    Andrew Crowther

William Schwenck Gilbert was born at 17 Southampton Street, Strand, London on the 18th of November, 1836, the son of William Gilbert (a retired naval surgeon) and Anne Gilbert. He had, or rather obtained, three younger sisters: Jane, Maud and Florence. He seems to have been interested in the theatre from an early age - he later recalled the Haymarket being lit by wax candles in the mid-1840s. He completed his education at King's College, London, and forwent the possibility of going on to Oxford in the attempt to join the Army and fight in Crimea. In the period 1857-66, he made abortive attempts at careers as Government clerk and barrister: however, he retreated out of both these professions as soon as he could. In 1861 or 1862 he started contributing drawings, prose and verse to the recently-established comic journal Fun . Among the products of this association were The Bab Ballads Uncle Baby was, as far as we know, his first professionally-performed play: it was produced at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in London on the 31st October 1863, but ran there for only seven weeks. David Eden suggests, without any concrete evidence to support the claim, that this play was written in collaboration with his father. His stage career went no further until December 1866, when both his burlesque Dulcamara and a pantomime

    The Music of KEVIN GILBERT
    Kevin Gilbert's players:
    Bill Bottrell: some backing vocals
    Brian Macleod: drums and percussion
    Dan Schwartz: some bass
Basically, Kevin did most of the instruments, including drums on a couple of tracks. That is why I have Bill and Dan with with "some" credit. They contributed on a couple tracks so I wanted to give them credit since they also helped Kevin produce the album.
I'd also like to add the musicians who helped Kevin out during his tour for the Thud album which are:
Dave Kerzner: Keyboards and funny noises
    Russ Parish: Guitar
    Nick D'Virgilio: Drums, Vocals
A Little Info about Kevin Gilbert's solo debut
Kevin Gilbert first made his major break into the music biz towards the late eighties after winning a Yamaha competition with his band, Giraffe In 1995, Kevin Gilbert's solo debut was different from Toy Matinee , yet alike on some tracks. The ballads (such as "Tears of Audrey" and "Tea For One")bring you back to the Toy Matinee days. But, most of his tunes would be classified as progressive pop/rock. Kevin really knows his instruments considering that he played just about all of the instruments on his album. That shows the true talent that this man had. But as some people say, "all good things must come to an end". Sadly, Kevin Gilbert was found dead on May 17, 1996. He will be sorely missed. BUT, his music will last forever. I will see to that with these web pages. ;-) For those that are interested, I've set up a

    Thomas Edward Gilbert, Jr.
"Hotstuff" Eddie Gilbert (Thomas Edward Gilbert, Jr.) born August 14, 1961 in Lexington, Ky.; died February 18, 1995 in Puerto Rico. He was billed in wrestling as being from "Every Girl's Dream, Every Woman's Fantasy and Every Man's Nightmare." Eddie was 5'10" and weighed 222 lbs.
"I don't mind losing a match if I can seriously injure someone along the way." - Eddie after the NWA World Title Tournament on November 19, 1994
"I grew up in South Florida. I remember watching the greatest wrestling show ever to be put on television in 1984, 1985, and 1986. Many fans might be reading what I am writing and thinking to themselves, yeah, I saw it too, Hulk Hogan was "Yellow and Red" and "Hulkamania" was sweeping the nation at awesome levels! Right now, I am shaking my head to signify, "NO!". But not just a silent "NO!" but a very loud angry "OH HELL NO!!". Because it wasn't WWF I am talking about, it is Florida Championship Wrestling.
Now why would I be talking about Florida Championship Wrestling in an Eddie Gilbert tribute? It was here I first caught a glimpse of this myth. I say myth because after you read this tribute introduction message, you are going to shake your head in disbelief and think, "He is building this guy up, this guy didn't have as much of an impact on pro-wrestling as he has suggested, no way, no how!". But the truth is, Eddie "Hot Stuff" Gilbert is the "FATHER" of Hardcore Wrestling. Eddie "Hot Stuff" Gilbert is the man who had the "VISION" to market Hardcore Wrestling nationally and he is the man who eventually led to the EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING creating a REVOLUTION in 1994 and CHANGING the face of pro-wrestling forever!
