FANTERIA DELLO SPAZIO di Robert A. Heinlein Oscar Mondadori Bestsellers 1999 di Antonella Bellecca Cari amici, questo mese mi accingo a recensire un libro scritto per una collana per ragazzi, ma che può avere livelli di lettura anche adulti. Di Robert Heinlein, conosciutissimo scrittore di fantascienza, so poco o niente, per cui vorrei fare un tentativo: parlare del libro "prima" di documentarmi sull'autore, in maniera da non lasciarmi influenzare. Vedremo cosa ne uscirà fuori. La terza parte dell'articolo sarà dedicata al film "Starship Troopers", tratto dal libro in questione. FANTERIA DELLO SPAZIO Questo romanzo è stato scritto nel 1959 in una collana di fantascienza per i ragazzi. E in effetti il protagonista è un ragazzo di 18 anni, Johnny Rico, che entra nella fanteria spaziale e racconta, in prima persona, prima il lungo addestramento e poi le esperienze di guerra. Ma mentre un adolescente può appassionarsi alle noiose elencazioni delle gerarchie militari, un adulto riesce a scorgervi molto di più, laddove l'autore esprime opinioni ben precise sul diritto di voto e sulla guerra, per esempio. Un altro esempio di "addestramento" è dato dal fatto che, durante le esercitazioni militari, un fucile su cinquecento è caricato con proiettili veri, e non si sa a chi capiterà quel fucile, potrebbe anche essere un istruttore dall'ottima mira... Ma, dopotutto, "il destino più nobile che può capitare a un uomo è quello di mettere il proprio corpo mortale tra la sua adorata casa e la desolazione di una guerra".

Email Die Liste folgt der New Heinlein Opus List Zu beachten ist, dass viele Werke Heinleins im Laufe der Jahre von mehr als einem deutschen Verlag veröffentlicht wurden. So ergibt es sich, dass dieselbe Geschichte oder dasselbe Originalbuch unter zwei oder mehr deutschen Titeln bekannt ist. Ein Beispiel ist G.136 "Have Space Suit - Will Travel", welches gleich mit vier verschiedenen Titeln in der untenstehenden Liste auftaucht. Dabei handelt es sich aber nicht um vier verschiedene Bücher! Da die Verlage ihre Übersetzungen untereinander lizensieren, taucht derselbe Text unter verschiedenen Titeln auf (und wir sind dumm genug, das Buch dann noch einmal zu kaufen). Für das vorstehende Beispiel findet man nämlich unter den vier Titeln nur zwei verschiedene Übersetzungen: die von Else von Hollander-Lossow aus dem Jahr 1960 und die von Heinz Nagel aus dem Jahr 1978. Aber auch unter dem gleichen Titel können sich unterschiedliche Übersetzungen verstecken. Das ist sogar bei den amerikanischen Originalversionen so! Beispielsweise wurde Heinleins bekanntestes Werk "Stranger in a Strange Land" (G.127) in der Bestsellerversion des Jahres 1961 um fast ein Viertel des Originalmanuskripts gekürzt. Erst nach Heinleins Tod erschien unter demselben Titel eine vollständige Version. Die New Heinlein Opus List unterscheidet solche Alternativversionen durch zusätzliche Kennbuchstaben wie G.127a und G.127b. Da mir die diversen US-Varianten und auch einige der abweichenden deutschen Übersetzungen nicht zur Verfügung stehen, kann ich derartige Versionen nicht unterscheiden.
