Ernest Hemingway - Paris
Originaltitel: A Moveable Feast
Roman. Rowohlt Verlag 1965
185 Seiten, ISBN: 3499226057

During his lifetime, he was awarded with:
Silver Medal of Military Valor (medaglia d'argento) in World War I
Pulitzer Prize in 1953 (for The Old Man and the Sea)
Nobel Prize in literature in 1954 (also partly for The Old Man and the Sea)
In 2001, two of his books, The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms, would be named to the list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century by the editorial board of the American Modern Library.
Introduction
Oak Park produced a tall, handsome man, strong, smart and ambitious. He had already learned the art of hunting and therefore was no stranger to killing. As an infant, he joined his father on hunting trips. At ten, he got his first shotgun. He also enjoyed a good fight; boxing was one of his passions. His father's prestige as a physician helped him a lot in the small town, he learned about music and art and grew up in a protected, clean and safe neighborhood. Some of his Nick stories seem partly based on his experiences at this time.
World War I showed him a different side of life, which did not, however, leave him entirely depressed and broken. His illusions were shattered, but the experiences gathered were invaluable, and, what's more, everything turned out to be all right in the end, the good ones won, his wounds healed completely and Agnes was a mere "Schwärmerei" (Burgess (9.); page 24). He even got decorated, returned as a hero and earned much fame and admiration back home. His luck was completed when he married Hadley Richardson who bore his first son.

This website is the story and the story is written in the "style" of Ernest Hemingway , the greatest American writer that ever lived according to at least a few.
It is written with gusto. It is written for laughs and the joy that comes from bad writing. The writers of "A Bad Hemingway Story" struggle with the short sentences and the runon sentences and the pointless but rich descriptions for that is what writers of Bad Hemingway must do. They write. They use email lists to write. They use the keyboard and the mouse. But most of all they write. Join them , for if you have gotten this far, you are already on your way to being one of them. After the United States entered the First World War, he joined a volunteer ambulance unit in the Italian army. After his return to the United States, he became a reporter for Canadian and American newspapers and was soon sent back to Europe to cover such events as the Greek Revolution.

E rnest Miller Hemingway was born at eight o'clock in the morning on July 21, 1899 in Oak Park, Illinois. In the nearly sixty two years of his life that followed he forged a literary reputation unsurpassed in the twentieth century. In doing so, he also created a mythological hero in himself that captivated (and at times confounded) not only serious literary critics but the average man as well. In a word, he was a star. Born in the family home at 439 North Oak Park Avenue (now 339 N. Oak Park Avenue) , a house built by his widowed grandfather Ernest Hall, Hemingway was the second of Dr. Clarence and Grace Hall Hemingway's six children; he had four sisters and one brother. He was named after his maternal grandfather Ernest Hall and his great uncle Miller Hall. Oak Park was a mainly Protestant, upper middle-class suburb of Chicago that Hemingway would later refer to as a town of "wide lawns and narrow minds." Only ten miles from the big city, Oak Park was really much farther away philosophically. It was basically a conservative town that tried to isolate itself from Chicago's liberal seediness. Hemingway was raised with the conservative Midwestern values of strong religion, hard work, physical fitness and self determination; if one adhered to these parameters, he was taught, he would be ensured of success in whatever field he chose.

    + strong religion
    + hard work
    + physical fitness
+ self determination Werbung As a boy his father taught him to hunt and fish along the shores and in the forests surrounding Lake Michigan. The Hemingway`s had a summer house , called Windemere on Horton Bay at the northern end of Lake Michigan and the family would spend the summer months their trying to stay cool. Hemingway would fish the different streams that ran into the lake, or he would take the row boat out on the bay and do some fishing there. It was something very special for him, because he could always go back to throughout his life, wherever he was. Nature would be touchstone of Hemmingway`s life and work, and though you often found his self living in major cities like:
