There is NO ONE better!!! lasvegasgina Hugo Victor I have known Victor for 21 years now! I met him while going with a friend who was getting a haircut. Victor did an AMAZING job and I eventually began hair modeling for him! He always did the most amazing things and EVERYONE loved my hair! I had lost track of VIctor for several years and just found him this year. As my hair texture has changed over the years, Victor took one look at it and immediately knew what to do. I just wish I didn't have to travel 250 miles to see him! Pros: You will never leave thinking, "I paid for this?"

    Biography
French writer, poet, dramatist, novelist, essayist, gifted painter, architect and critic who, as an eclectic genius, was hard-working, politically active and a humanitarian. His works include "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," 1831, the play "Lucrezia Borgia," 1833 and the novel "Les Miserable," 1862. Hugo's father, an officer in Napoleon's army, did not get along well with his mother. Most of his early years from age two were spent in Paris where his mother preferred to live. He and his two brothers knew their father from occasional visits. At age seven he traveled with brother Eugene to Italy where their father was a military governor. In 1811-12 the boys visited their father who was a general by now, in Spain where he was governor of Madrid. Educated in Paris and Madrid, Hugo wrote his first play at the age of 14, won many poetry prizes in school and helped found a magazine, which failed in 1821. Hugo's mother died the same year. After a period of extreme poverty, he was awarded an annual pension by Louis XVIII and went on to become the most prolific French writer of the 19th century. Always seeking to achieve the maximum literary beauty, he believed in the importance of the French language. Between 1822 and 1832 he became a leader in the literary rebellion called the Romantic movement. Hugo took part in the movement to secure France's architectural heritage in the 1820's and vehemently denounced vandalism. In 1832 he wrote "Le Roi S'Amuse" or "The King's Diversion" on which Verdi later based his opera "Rigoletto."

    A FIGHT WITH A CANNON
    By VICTOR HUGO
THE WORLD'S 100 BEST SHORT STORIES
    Volume One: ADVENTURE
    New York AND London
originally from the novel Quatre-Vingt Treize (transl. as Ninety-Three
(Book 2, Chapters III-conclusion, IV, V, and VI) La Vieuville was suddenly cut short by a cry of despair, and at the same time a noise was heard wholly unlike any other sound. The cry and sounds came from within the vessel. The captain and lieutenant rushed toward the gun-deck, but could not get down. All the gunners were pouring up in dismay. Something terrible had just happened. One of the carronades of the battery, a twenty-four pounder, had broken loose. This is the most dangerous accident that can possibly take place on shipboard. Nothing more terrible can happen to a sloop of war in open sea and under full sail. A cannon that breaks its moorings suddenly becomes some strange, supernatural beast. It is a machine transformed into a monster. That short mass on wheels moves like a billiard-ball, rolls with the rolling of the ship, plunges with the pitching, goes, comes, stops, seems to meditate, starts on its course again, shoots like an arrow from one end of the vessel to the other, whirls around, slips away, dodges, rears, bangs, crashes, kills, exterminates. It is a battering ram capriciously assaulting a wall. Add to this the fact that the ram is of metal, the wall of wood. It is matter set free; one might say, this eternal slave was avenging itself; it seems as if the total depravity concealed in what we call inanimate things has escaped, and burst forth all of a sudden; it appears to lose patience, and to take a strange mysterious revenge; nothing more relentless than this wrath of the inanimate. This enraged lump leaps like a panther, it has the clumsiness of an elephant, the nimbleness of a mouse, the obstinacy of an ox, the uncertainty of the billows, the zigzag of the lightning, the deafness of the grave. It weighs ten thousand pounds, and it rebounds like a child's ball. It spins and then abruptly darts off at right angles.

Victor Hugo Victor-Marie Hugo , novelist, poet, playwright, dramatist, essayist and statesman, (February 26, 1802 – May 22, 1885) is recognized as one of the most influential Romantic writers of the nineteenth century. Born and raised in a royalist Catholic family, Hugo would—like so many of the Romantics—rebel against the conservative political and religious establishment in favor of liberal republicanism and the revolutionary cause. Hugo, like Gustave Flaubert , was disgusted with what he saw as the corruption of imperial France and with the Church's complicity in social injustices, and he devoted much of his energies (both in fiction and in essays) to overthrowing the monarchy. While he made significant contributions to the revolutionary cause, Hugo was much more than a political activist. He was one of the most gifted writers of his times. Like Charles Dickens in England, Hugo became immensely popular among the working classes, viewed as a hero who exposed the underbelly of French society. Hugo was recognized and continues to be lauded as a major force within the literary community. More than perhaps any other French author with the exception of
