AL Interviews Patricia Kennealy Morrison (Patricia Kennealy met Jim Morrison in January 1969 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, the day after the Doors had appeared at Madison Square Garden. A tall, attractive redhead, Patricia was then the editor of , an influential rock trade magazine. In June 1970, Jim and Patricia were married in a Celtic handfasting ceremonyan event that Oliver Stone later depicted in his 1991 film, The Doors . After Jim's death, Patricia wrote a memoir, Strange Days ; she is also a noted science fiction writer whose latest novel, Blackmantle , was published to wide critical acclaim. AL: What did you think of the Oliver Stone movie which many people, ourselves included, admired. PM: You mean the world's biggest music video? Jim Morrison, the man I love, the man I married, is nowhere in that film. What you see is a grotesque, sodden, buffoonish caricature, who could never have written the immortal songs he is supposedly being immortalized for. But the worst sin Oliver Stone committed is that you don't care that Jim Morrison is dead at the end of the film. AL: What was Jim's attitude toward the Doors? Did it change over time?

When lore became legend on ancient Earth and the powers of magic waned, the Kelts and their allies fled the planet for the freedom of distant star realms. But the stars were home to dangerous foes, and millenia later, the worlds of Keltia still maintained uneasy truce with two enemy empires -the Imperium and the Phalanx. But he seas they crossed were not the wild Western Ocean, nor were the ships they sailed the leather-hulled boats of later legend. Those ships were starships; the oceans the dark starry gulfs of space itself. The new world they sought was a distant double-ringed planet, and though this great heroic voyage was indeed led by a man called Brendan, he was no Christian navigator-monk but the son of a mortal lord and a princess of the Sidhe. And when magic began to die in Ireland, he took the best of Celtdom to the stars. (MVD) MVD Visual and Sexy Intellectual are pleased to announce the home viewing release of The Doors "From The Outside" for North American distribution on DVD July 14, 2009.
The Doors - From The OutsideThis brand new documentary film tells the story of The Doors, not from the perspective of the surviving members - as has been told so many time before - but from the recollections, memories, stories and anecdotes of those who knew the group and its members best.
The panel is headed by a woman who was as close to Jim Morrison as anyone ever was; his widow Patricia Kennealy-Morrison. Patricia has rarely spoken on film about her relationship with Jim, or about her own memories of The Doors. This is a once in a lifetime contribution from someone who knew just about everything that went on.
Also interviewed is Billy James, the man who 'discovered' Jim Morrison and an early incarnation of The Doors. Billy signed them to their first deal with Columbia Records, and gained the trust and respect of the entire group. Here he tells-all about those very early days when The Doors were known only to a select few.
Richard Goldstein - editor of Village Voice and close friend of the band is on hand too with his anecdote - heavy version of events, as is Mark Benno, the legendary blues musician whose searing guitar graced the L.A. Woman album.

    December 8, 2009
Patricia Kennealy-Morrison. Photo by L.D. Bright My earliest recollection of hearing a Doors song was at the wedding of some people we knew in the church circles my family moved in. As near as I can piece together, the wedding took place sometime in 1970. But during that particular wedding, I was introduced to Jim Morrison and the Doors. The groom was, and is, a very gifted composer and singer of gospel music. One of the aspects of the marriage ceremony was a song that he arranged and recorded that was played at a certain part of the vows.
Till the heavens stop the rain
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
Till the heavens stop the rain
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I For some strange reason, that one section of the song stuck in my prepubescent brain. Go figure. But I digress. The same year that the above-mentioned wedding occurred, another solemn Celtic marriage ceremony took place, which also involved the name Jim Morrison. In fact, it actually involved Jim Morrison and a young lady that he met and fell in love with, by the name of Patricia Kennealy, a noted rock critic who blazed the trail for women in a vocation dominated up to that point by men.

Never lived anywhere else. Never wanted to. Got a job as a rock journalist, in the course of which I met and married a rock star (yeah, yeah, conflict of interest, who cares). Became a priestess in a Celtic Pagan tradition, and (based on sheer longevity) one of the most senior Witches around. Began writing my Keltiad series. LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK
    26 AUGUST 1988, UPDATED (BY MAIL) 9 AUGUST 1991
I had no difficulty finding Patricia Kennealy at her parents' home on Long Island, where she was recuperating after an operation. It was, however, the first interview I conducted specifically for this project, and as a result I was less clear about what I was looking for than I became later. Since it was also the first interview that I edited for publication, I was also less clear about my editorial criteria as well. Fortunately, Kennealy was very helpful, even going so far as to do some substantial editing herself in places. I ended up by re-editing the entire interview after I had finished the others.
Kennealy's Keltiad series blends science fiction and fantasy as it transposes the ancient Celtic world and its customs into a space-faring future. When I visited her, only The Copper Crown (New York: Bluejay, 1984) and

The Internet evangelist Bill Keller moved toward the dais in tiny, quick steps on Sunday, exhibiting the anticipation of a man ready to address a crowd. Roughly 60 people stood before him in a hotel meeting room in Lower Manhattan, temporary quarters of his Christian center, his response to the mosque planned for an empty building nearby.
