W ELCOME TO Into the Wardrobe ! I am delighted to have been asked by John, the creator of this excellent web site, to write a few words of introduction. For those who have no idea about C. S. Lewis and his work, and are just looking for a fun site, there is plenty to investigate and enjoy right here, and what you find here may well lead you into years of enjoyable reading as you discover the existence of one of the finest writers of this century, and find out about his books. On the other hand, for those who are already fascinated by Jack (C. S. Lewis' nickname) and his "Narnian Chronicles", or other works, and want to know more about him and his world, you can almost be there yourself by wandering through this site's various links. There is much here of worth to the serious scholar too, and if you are about to embark on a paper about Jack or his works I heartily recommend this site as a research source. Very best wishes to you, no matter who you are or what your reason for being here. I hope you enjoy your time inside this very large wardrobe.

    Clive Staples Lewis
Clive Staples Lewis or better known as C.S Lewis was brought up in a normal Christian home but early events in his life effected his religious consciousness in good and bad ways like while enrolled at Cherbourg house the clergymen would beat him with a rod to convince him to believe in Christianity, consequently this made him disbelieve in it. Also “The death of both his parents and his brother may have also contributed to his disillusionment with Christianity” (qtd in Contemporary Authors 8). The people liked his style of writing and they like the message he sent with his stories but he never thought of himself as different than anyone else he just loved to write for the people and as Jonathan D. Evans pointed out in “Lewis styled himself as a common man addressing concerns faced by all” ( qtd in Clive Lewis).
Clive Staples Lewis was born on November 29, 1898 in Belfast, Ireland to Florence a housewife and Augusta Hamilton Lewis a solicitor. His mother When he was 10 his mother, father and brother died in the same year. Lewis was sent to a health resort in Malvern, England because of lung problems and was enrolled as a student at Cherbourg House where he became disillusioned with Christianity probably because the clergyman w
Lewis was then tutored by the former headmaster of Lurgan College W.T Kirkpatrick from 1914 to 1917 until he enrolled at Oxford University College. He stayed at Oxford for six months until the outbreak of World War 1 then he enlisted and went to
