Guaranteed to light your fire
Article Abstract: The silver bean cigarette lighter has become a design classic in the UK, being admired both for its appearance and its feel. The prototype is silver, but this design is in fact available in a wide range of colours, suitable for all different moods and occasions. Nevertheless, the silver bean will remain the classiest of all. The lighters take the smallest Bic refill, which is not widely available, so it is best to purchase a large quantity when you find a shop that stocks them. author: Mackay, Shena Publisher: Financial Times Ltd.

Philippa Pullar
Article Abstract: Writer Philippa Pullar came from a very conventional background, but lived in a rather unconventional way as an adult. In 1958 she married a man who ran a chicken farm, and this gave her a deep-rooted aversion to factory farming. It also fuelled her belief in the sanctity of animal life. These views are reflected in 'Consuming Passions,' her first book, which was published in 1970. This was to remain her most successful book.

Tucker has been a minor legend in New Zealand as the man who stole a preserved Māori head and started the retail trade in them. The recent discovery of an old document has now revealed his place in New Zealand history. He was baptised on 16 May 1784 at Portsea Portsmouth England , the son of Timothy and Elizabeth Tucker, people of humble rank. In 1798 Tucker and Thomas Butler shoplifted goods worth more than five shillings from a ‘Taylor’ William Wilday or Wildey, and were convicted and sentenced to death. They were then reprieved and sentenced to seven years’ transportation to New South Wales . They left Portsmouth on the Hillsborough on 20 December 1798.
