Novalis (1772-1801) - PSEUDONYM FOR FRIEDRICH LEOPOLD, BARON VON HARDENBERG German poet who influenced later Romantic thought, sometimes called "the prophet of Romanticism". Novalis took his pseudonym from "de Novali", a name his family had formerly used. The central image of Novalis' visions, a blue flower, became later a symbol of longing among Romantics. The "blue flower" is unattainable and is to remain unattainable. Romantics expressed a longing for home and a longing for what is far off; Schiller called the romantics "exiles pining for a homeland". "The imagination places the world of the future either far above us, or far below, or in a relation of metempsychosis to ourselves. We dream of traveling through the universe – but is not the universe within ourselves? The depths of our spirit are unknown to us - the mysterious way leads inwards. Eternity with its worlds – the past and future – is in ourselves or nowhere. The external world is the world of shadows – it throws its shadow into the realm of light. At present this realm certainly seems to us so dark inside, lonely. shapeless. But how entirely different it will seem to us – when this gloom is past, and the body of shadows has moved away. We will experience greater enjoyment than ever, for our spirit has been deprived."

Georg Philipp Friedrich von Hardenberg was born in 1772 at Oberwiederstedt manor, in the Harz mountains (in present-day Saxony-Anhalt ). The family seat was a manorial estate, not simply a stately home. Novalis descended from ancient, Low German nobility. Different lines of the family include such important, influential magistrates and ministry officials as the Prussian chancellor Karl August von Hardenberg (1750–1822). An oil painting and a christening cap commonly assigned to Novalis are his only possessions now extant. In the church in Wiederstedt, he was christened Georg Philipp Friedrich. He spent his childhood on the family estate and used it as the starting point for his travels into the

STEREOTACTIC RADIOSURGERY, STEREOTACTIC RADIOTHERAPY, WHAT DO THESE TERMS MEAN?
STEREOTACTIC RADIOSURGERY
is the non-invasive delivery of a precise single dose of high-energy radiation to a tumor or lesion. Although it is called surgery, there is actually no incision and it is often performed on an outpatient basis - eliminating the complications and substantial recovery time associated with traditional surgery. Stereotactic radiosurgery uses radiation to shrink or control the growth of a tumor by killing tumor cells and interfering with their ability to grow. STEREOTACTIC RADIOTHERAPY involves the same amount of radiation as radiosurgery, but is delivered in smaller doses, in a series of treatments, over a period of time. This improves the effectiveness of the treatment while avoiding radiation exposure to nearby healthy tissue and organs, or, if treating the brain, critical structures such as the optic nerve or brain stem. NOVALIS SHAPED BEAM SURGERY is the most advanced approach to stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy available today. Novalis continuously shapes the treatment beam to match the size and shape of a tumor from all angles, ensuring that the tumor receives the full prescription dose of radiation, while protecting healthy tissue. Shaping the beam to the exact dimensions of the tumor is the latest and most technologically advanced approach for treatment with stereotactic radiosurgery. The procedure, which is done on an outpatient basis, is virtually painless and the patient remains awake for the entire procedure. In most cases, patients undergo treatment in the morning and can return to their normal routine by the afternoon.

Novalis Shaped Beam Surgery is an integrated treatment system that shapes beams of focused high-energy radiation from all angles to deliver non- invasive, precise treatments that shrink or control the growth of tumor cells of the brain, head, neck, spine, liver, lung and prostate. Novalis is also used to treat arteriovenous malformations and functional disorders. With the Novalis technology, harm to surrounding tissue is significantly reduced.
Novalis offers a wide range of treatment options for a large number of indications, and is the only system on the market that can treat with single stage, as well as hypo and hyper-fractionation, and in a frameless or frame- based mode. It also offers the option to treat with circular beams, conformal beams, dynamic conformal arcs, and IMRT.

Novalis
From LoveToKnow 1911
NOVALIS, the pseudonym of Friedrich Leopold, Freiherr Von Hardenberg (1772-1801), German poet and novelist. The name was taken, according to family records, from an ancestral estate. He was born on the 2nd of May 1772 on his father's estate at Oberwiederstedt in Prussian Saxony . His parents were members of the Moravian ( Her7'nhuter sect , and the strict religious training of his youth is largely reflected in his literary works. From the gymnasium of Eisleben he passed, in 1790, as a student of philosophy , to the university of Jena , where he was befriended by Schiller. He next studied law at Leipzig , when he formed a friendship with Friedrich Schlegel , and finally at Wittenberg , where, in 1794, he took his degree. His father's cousin, the Prussian minister Hardenberg, now offered him a government post at Berlin ; but the father feared the influence upon his son of the loose-living statesman, and sent him to learn the practical duties of his profession under the Kreisamtmann (district administrator) of Tennstedt near Langensalza . In the following year he was appointed auditor to the government saltworks in Weissenfels , of which his father was director. His grief at the death in 1797 of Sophie von Kiihn, to whom he had become betrothed in Tennstedt, found expression in the beautiful

The Next Evolution of Holistic Medical Education:
Preparing Our Future Health Practitioners
NOVALIS ORGANON was created to prepare the new generation of medical practitioners, public health leaders and teachers. It was born of the true vision and wisdom of holistic medical practice and health care. The ever-growing crisis in global heath care is challenging every aspect of peoples lives as well as the general well-being of society. We are asked to rethink our ideas about how best to maintain health in a world of radical change. We urgently need a broader concept of the care of body, mind and spirit. It's now the essential time for a new medical curriculum that offers the best practice to meet the realities faced by humanity. A New Paradigm of Medicine The failings of the U.S. Paleolithic medical profession are legion, but too often, alternative medical procedures rely on Naturopathic or Eastern modalities of diagnosis and treatment, such as Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Many practitioners overlook or underplay the great esoteric research heritage of the West. This neglected body of medical knowledge can be termed the Dynamic System and begins with such personages as John Hunter, Franz Mesmer and Samuel Hahnemann. It is a tradition that extends through the twentieth century via Rudolf Steiner and Ita Wegman, the creators of Anthroposophic Medicine and Wilhelm Reich's Orgonomic Medicine. Add to this list Florence Nightingale and Eva Reich.

Men and circumstances generally modify the ideal train of events, so that it seems imperfect, and its consequences are equally imperfect. Thus with the Reformation; instead of Protestantism came Lutheranism.

George MacDonald stayed out the 1842-43 school year, probably due to a lack of funds. During this year, Greville records that his father traveled somewhere in the far north and took up employment cataloguing a library at a castle or mansion, the location of which is unknown, but generally thought to be either Dunbeath or Thurso Castles. Greville surmises that these months spent working in the library may have been very important to his father. Many of his stories took place at locations which contained a library
