Japanese This is a homepage for Oe Kenzaburo lovers. The name of this homepage is 'Oe Kenzaburo Fan Club', however , it is not a real fan club. This is my personal homepage, and unofficial homepage. This page has nothing with Mr.Oe or any publishers.
Unfortunately I can not use English enough, so this page is poorer than Japanese version. But I will raise this page little by little. I welcome your mail and I want to insert your message into this page, if you allow it.

    Oe, Kenzaburo
Oe, Kenzaburo key Nip the Buds, Shoot the Kids (tr. 1995). Five years later the birth of his severely brain-damaged son marked a turning point in his life and work. His best known novel, A Personal Matter (1964, tr. 1968), deals with a father's slow acceptance of his similarly handicapped infant son. Several of his other works concern this theme. In life, he and his wife have devoted much of their lives to their son's care. Oe's other works include more than 20 novels, among them The Silent Cry (1967, tr. 1974), The Pinch Runner Memorandum (1976, tr. 1993), and A Quiet Life (1990, tr. 1996), several short-story collections, essays, and Hiroshima Notes (1965, tr. 1995), which chronicles the courage of the victims of the nuclear attack. His often angry and politically charged tales, his recurrent themes of abnormality, sexuality, and marginality, and his gritty, realistic style set him apart from the mainstream Japanese literary tradition. Oe was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1994. Somersault (2003), his first novel since winning the prize, revolves around a terrorist religious cult and its charismatic leader.

OE'S COMMAND
"I appreciate the darkness, and it is important for me and my work. I feel I must always go to the next stage in me, deeper and deeper and darker, and then I must write about it. I feel I must conquer the darkness by perusing the very dark things in me, through writing about them. Always I am writing myself, always." This quote is from an interview Oe Kenzaburo had in 1995 after receiving the prestigious Nobel Prize for Literature in 1994. The sentiments above are the reasons that Oe is such a deep and emotional writer to experience. You can feel yourself plunging into the depths with him as he "peruses the very dark things." He is filled with undeniable emotion and as a reader, so are you. ( http://www.boston.com/globe/search/stories/nobel/1995/1995r.html
