Binding: Hardcover
ASIN: Book Description Rather than attempting, in vain, to reflect all the rapid and dramatic developments that occur in the field of radiation chemistry, it provides a point of entry into the field and gives readers a broad and current overview from which their own areas of interest may be further explored. With an approach that is both academically rigorous and eminently practical, it promotes understanding of the fundamental principles underlying the action of radiation on matter. Both the methodology and the industrial applications are clearly stated, and the Third Edition now utilizes SI units to assist students in relating radiation exposure and absorbed dose to radiation chemical yields. Among other improvements, the final chapter on applied radiation chemistry and radiation processing has been expanded to give fuller coverage of chemical reactions initiated by high-energy radiation and their commercial uses. Customer Reviews: Gas Generation via Radiolysis An excellent reference on radiation effects in materials, particularly production of gaseous products through radiolytic and radiochemical pathways. Good compendium on literature base. Three stars because of very limited size of potentially interested audience. Five stars for those who need such data.

The God of Smoke listens idly in the heat
to the barbecue sausages
speaking the language of rain deceitfully
as their fat dances.
Azure, hazed, the huge drifting sky shelters
its threatening weather.
A screen door slams, and the kids come tumbling
out of their arguments,
and the barrage of shouting begins, concerning
young Sandra and Scott and the broken badminton racquet and net and the burning meat. Is that a fifties home movie, or the real thing? Heavens, how a child and a beach ball in natural colour can break your heart. And the brown dog worries the khaki grass to stop it from growing in place of his worship, the burying bone.

Editor Fiona Sampson on the history and current remit of the magazine
First published in The Independent Poetry Review was founded in 1912. Its first editor was Harold Monro who, in refusing the editorship of the Poetry Society's in-house Poetical Gazette and holding out instead for editorial independence, set the standard for today's journal. Published by the Society and sharing its aim of "helping poets and poetry thrive in Britain today" – a declaration of intent towards all schools and groups of poetry, not merely the fashionable or metropolitan – PR nevertheless comes with that independent room for manoeuvre which is essential if it's to achieve a literary project. Or, to put this in other ways, if it's to be a good read; a protagonist in contemporary poetic practice; an indispensable

Hi all, thought I would throw this one in - I have not been researching the Tranter side but thought some here may recognise the following: My grandfather John Tranter emigrated from Australia to New Zealand before 1936. He married Rose in 1937. They had 12 children, I have been tracing on my grandmother's side so detail on granddad is terrible. The aunts and uncles are scattered far and wide so tracking them down is as hard!
From recollection granddad died in the late 70's; Rose died in 1990.
I can only guess that John was a second generation Aussie as there is no verbal history that says he came from England, so perhaps his parents did? The only other clue is the eldest son bears the second name Stewart - perhaps his father's father's christian name?
Clues and detail gratefully accepted.
