2011 Topic:
Do the Ends Justify the Means? Todays News, November 8th: The Greek playwright Sophocles wrote in Electra (c. 409 B.C.), 'The end excuses any evil,' a thought later rendered by the Roman poet Ovid as 'The result justifies the deed' in 'Heroides' (c. 10 B.C.). So in society today, the Kids Philosophy Slam asks the question: Do the ends justify the means? Deadline for entries is February 11, 2011. Complete rules and participation guidelines are now posted, including alternative question for younger grade levels. The Philosopher of the Week is Thomas Aquinas.
