Faculty members Ann Marie VanDerZanden and Mike Reinert accompanied the group as team coaches. This annual event is sponsored by national and regional companies within the landscape industry, and this year brought together nearly 1000 students from 64 colleges and universities. The event provides students the opportunity to test their horticulture and landscape skills against their peers and to network with industry leaders through the enormous career fair and numerous workshop sessions. Industry representatives attend this event in an effort to recruit some of the best horticulture students in the nation. Prior to the competitions we traveled to the Huntington Gardens in San Marino, California and toured the new Chinese garden as well as the rest of the magnificent 120 acre site. It was a welcome sight after a long Iowa winter.

http://neda.us
Welcome!
We hope that your perusal of this site proves an informative and educational experience for you, and that in some way, you can begin to understand the basics of what debate is, how it fits into the core of education, and how you can become involved. The Association believes that debate should be a practical educational experience and that performance by participants should reflect the stylistic and analytical skills that would be rewarded in typical public forums (i.e. courts, congress, the classroom, civic gatherings, etc.). To facilitate this mission, the Association will host a variety of tournament events open to students and directors willing to abide by and enforce Association standards of ethical, responsible, humane and communicative advocacy.

Paradigm Pride ... Links Paradigm has a new web site location! Go to www.paradigmpride.com where there are updates and more beautiful things! Debate has existed for thousands of years. It is an activity that can turn commoners into kings, give voice to the voiceless, and make the wise appear foolish. The great Greek philosopher Heroclitus once stated, "All is flux, nothing is stationary." In a time where the world appears to be changing with increased rapidity, it is important to determine a way to view the world. We each approach life with our own lens of understanding or Paradigm. The dialectic activity of debate is one way to create and test our Paradigm. This s ite is dedicat ed to the great debaters and orators of the past who have provoked our minds to change. And to the emerging debaters and orators of the present, who will continue in their tradition of excellence while shaping the future to come.
