Who we are New Albanian textbooks The yearly conference of European heritage language educators took place at the end of July in Vlora, Albania. The highlight of the conference was the pilot version of the new textbooks for heritage language teaching in the lower-primary grades in the Albanian language. Basil Schader talks to the authors This new series comprises one book for early childhood educators and one for first grade as well as topic books for the second and third grades. A CD with teachers' notes and additional materials per book is also available. Team members and coordinators The books were developed in cooperation with the International Projects in Education office of the Zurich University of Teacher Education and the Kosovar Ministry of Education. The authoring team included five subject teachers from Pristina and five heritage language teachers from various European countries. The project was coordinated and led by two subject-specialists from the Kosovar Ministry of Education and Basil Schader representing Switzerland. This project was financed thanks to the Canton of Zurich Lottery Funds. The new textbooks In 2011 and 2012, new textbooks with a similar concept for the middle and high school levels are planned.
