The Algebra Helper software can help you with your homework. It makes your homework faster to do and easier to learn...so don't panic. Picture yourself doing your homework. Sitting. Staring at the equation. Outwardly silent, but inwardly screaming, "Why?! Why doesn't this make any sense? I studied! What is the problem? Am I just dumb or something?" You're not dumb. Everyone at one point has hoped for help with algebra that doesn't involved parents, teachers or tutorials. They can help (well, maybe not always the parents), but often you're still left confused and unsure of how to solve the equations that you were assigned. What you really need is something that can help you with your own homework, not problems it already has programmed into it that barely look like what your  teacher or professor was trying to explain. This program combines learning the math and doing the homework. After you plug in your equation, it will go through it step by step with you. Your homework gets done and you learn how to work the math problems at the same time. No more math labs, tutoring sessions with the teacher, embarassement because you didn't know the answer or asking your parents if they remember how to do this stuff.

The lessons are cross-referenced to help you find related material, and a "search" box is on every page to help you find what you're looking for. If you have suggestions regarding topics, particularly within trigonometry, that you would like to see added to Purplemath, please say so . Thank you!) Algebra Tutorials Written by Tara Peris Many children, even those with solid math skills, require algebra tutorials from time to time. Introductory algebra courses are challenging because they present an array of new material, the diversity of which can tax even the most capable math student. Algebra tutorials can help to ensure success by targeting key course areas in a systematic manner. Many students progress seamlessly through their first years of math schooling. They tackle basic number concepts and fractions with ease, making one think that algebra will be mastered as a natural extension of these skills. Although it is true that a strong foundation in basic math is necessary for mastering algebra, for many students it is not sufficient.
Quick Algebra Tutorials
A child may understand the concept of a variable with ease, and may have no difficulty simplifying basic equations. This same child, however, may have difficulty solving equations when presented in a word problem format. Difficulty with algebra emerges because students are required to demonstrate flexibility in their thinking and generalization of basic skills, abilities that might not emerge without extra assistance. Quick algebra tutorials that target specific areas of difficulty are an excellent way to assist struggling students. They can be done with an in-home aid, which is arguably the most effective way to help a child learn difficult material. Alternatively, they can be done in a more cost-effective manner, by using some of today's great new math software.

To multiply powers with the same base, keep the base and add the exponents. Ex 1) 6 Ex 2) n · n = n Ex 3) 2 Ex 4) 5 Notice that which can be reduced to 2 So to divide powers with the same base, keep the base the same and subtract the exponents. About the Tutorial
We encourage our students to include the tutorial as a regular part of their algebra study. We also invite parent/teachers to make use of the tutorial in their preparation and their teaching. At times, a fresh look at an algebraic process or problem that includes a verbal explanation can help a student achieve a better understanding of an important concept.
Sample Lesson You may wish to view a sample lesson prior to registering for access to the tutorial. The sample provided is just one example from a complete lesson. This sample plays through without the need for user navigation.
Download Times Many factors determine the download time for each section of a lesson, including the speed of your connection. On average, each download takes one to two minutes on a 56k modem.
