    Synopsis
Animation. Dennis lives in Beanotown with Mum, Dad, little sister Bea and his pet dog, Gnasher. Gnasher is more than a dog to Dennis; he is a kindred spirit. Whatever Dennis does, Gnasher does with him. Together with their friends Curly and Pie Face, Dennis and Gnasher believe the world truly is their oyster and that kids should make the rules. Not everyone agrees, including Mum and Dad. But Dennis and Gnasher are not going to let that stand in the way of their pursuit of fun! After watching a film about an alien invasion, Dennis, Curly and Pie Face decide to make their own film. However, Walter stumbles across them filming, and he only sees the action, not the camera. He films what he sees on his mobile phone and then runs to tell the whole of Beanotown about the alien invasion. As panic spreads, Dennis and his friends are oblivious, but when they come across the chaos in the streets, they decide to keep filming in order to help make the best of their own alien film. Meanwhile, Sergeant Slipper investigates the alien landing that Walter has seen, and discovers the truth - that the spaceship is a playhouse with glow sticks in it.

View other movie reviews Find a movie: Alien vs. Predator The concept seems cool enough. Let's combine two popular movie franchises, Alien and Predator into one action packed movies that rabid fans everywhere can enjoy. It started off as a comic book series, then moved to video games, so a movie was the logical (and inevitable) step. Then, the idea got stuck in development hell, as bringing together the necessary parties and coming up with a decent script proved to be an extremely difficult task. After the "success" of Freddy vs. Jason Alien vs. Predator was back on the fast track. Apparently, they still forgot a script. This is a stupid movie. It will annoy fans of both franchises, and non-fans of both franchises. Granted, both franchises were not really going anywhere (especially after Alien: Resurrection ), but that's no reason to annoy people further. Alien vs. Predator is a boring film. That is the first strike against it. Nothing happens for the first half hour, as writer/director Paul W. S. Anderson ( Resident Evil Soldier ) sets up his back story. Satellites discover a huge pyramid underneath the Antarctic ice. Charles Bishop Weyland (Lance Henriksen

    Alien Vs. Predator
Sponsored Links Author By Chris Bowyer Rating... Poster The movies have long cultivated many of their better tales from other mediums; books are the most obvious and prolific. What doesn't work under the written word may work quite well with the aid of moving images. The same goes for comic books; the next natural resource of sorts that Hollywood has taken to mining concepts from.
The latest example of this is Alien .vs. Predator , a film with a concept so clever that it has no business being in such a mindless popcorn movie.
The two science fiction franchies were originally brought together in a graphic novel of the same name. The plot there (and here, as well) revolved around an ancient pyramid used by the Predators for a unique hunting expedition. Locked up inside the pyramid is an Alien Queen, restrained by a machine which can induce her to lay eggs on cue. The cue is the arrival of three young Predators, who are there to hunt and kill the Aliens to prove their worth as part of a rite of passage. How very Klingon.
This has, of course, been going on for thousands of years. And, of course, the alien bar-mitzvah doesn't go as smoothly this time as it has in the past, thanks largely to the presence of a group of human beings sent to study the pyramid. This group of random experts (all of whom are steeped in all of the the subjects which will come in handy later) is assembled by billionaire Charles Bishop Weyland, who has taken ill and is desperate to leave a mark on the world before he dies.

ALIEN and ALIENS are the two of the scariest movies ever made. Most horror films are horrible with the emphasis on the grossness rather than the fright. ALIEN and ALIENS, on the other hand, are smartly written science fiction exercises in terror. After the disastrous and depressingly bleak ALIEN 3 and after the death of the story's lead, it might appear to the casual viewer than the series was over. Au contraire. Movie moguls are fully empowered to revive the dead for the sake of the bottom line.

Half.com *Also starring: John Hurt Ian Holm Harry Dean Stanton Yaphet Kotto , Veronica Cartwright Review by Dragan Antulov 4 stars out of 4 When science fiction becomes topic of discussions among people who aren't fans or even superficial connoisseurs of the genre, they usually have very narrow definition of what science fiction film is or what it should be. Thanks to the influence of people like George Lucas, Steven Spielberg or Gene Roddenberry, science fiction is considered escapist genre about fantastic worlds almost always better than our own. However, in the late 1970s, after debilitating fuel crisis, unprecedented political turmoil, and unstoppable decline of world economy, future didn't seem bright anymore. Filmmakers suddenly began using the media of science fiction films to express their anxiety and scepticism towards things to come. ALIEN, second feature film by Ridley Scott, also joined the trend, this time by using big budget resources to resurrect almost forgotten sub-genre of SF horror, until then strictly in the B-movie domain.

    98. Alien: The Director's Cut

    http://www.haro-online.com/movies/alien_directors_cut.html
View other movie reviews Find a movie: Alien: The Director's Cut Nearly twenty-five years after its initial 1979 release, Alien returns to scare a new generation of filmgoers with Alien: The Director's Cut . Was a director's cut really necessary? No. This new version adds very little to the original, which is perfectly fine, since the original Alien was, and is still, a great movie. The best part about this re-release is that one can see Alien again on the big screen. More importantly, teenagers, the people that go to the movies most often, can see it how it should be seen. Alien is one of those few films that is genuinely scary, and seeing it on a television does not do it justice. It needs to be seen in a theater, on the huge screen, in the dark, with loud sound. The legacy of Alien is huge. It spawned three sequels (with a spin-off in production and a fifth being bandied about), launched the career of Sigourney Weaver, and redefined the way that space and horror movies were made. Still, one should mention the new material. The biggest 'new' scene is not that new, having already been included in a release available for purchase, where Ripley (Sigourney Weaver

Half.com *Also starring: Charles Dance , Paul McGann, Brian Glover, Ralph Brown, Danny Webb, Christopher John Fields, Holt McCallany, Lance Henriksen Pete Postlethwaite Review by Steve Rhodes 1 star out of 4 Let me first confess that I absolutely loved ALIEN (1979) and ALIENS (1986). In fact, ALIENS is one of my favorite (top 20 or 30) movies of all time. I was extremely disappointed by ALIEN 3. In ALIEN, the shock of the concept as well as the acting carried the picture. In ALIENS the fear of the beast was tempered by the sweetness of the little Newt character. Most of the same writers (Larry Ferguson, David Giler, Walter Hill, and Vincent Ward) are back, but this time with a different director (David Fincher) and mainly a new cast, and they craft a totally different vision. This is a dark and mean spirited show. Both of the first two had gems of hope in them. This one reeks with despair and hopelessness.
