The word "angel" comes from the Greek word "angelos" which means "messenger." Angels are spiritual beings without bodies of flesh and bones, though they apparently have the ability to appear in human form (Gen. 19:1-22). Angels had many functions. They praised God (Psalm 103:20), served as messengers to the world (Luke 1:11-20, 26-38; Luke 2:9-14), watched over God's people (Psalm 91:11-12), and were sometimes instruments of God's judgment (Matt. 13:49-50). The Bible tells us that God created the angels and that at some time in the distant past there was a rebellion in heaven and many of the angels fell. Apparently, it was the elect angels that did not fall (1 Tim. 5:21). The Bible says that angels were created by Christ (Col. 1:16), that they carry out the will of God (Psalm 103:20; Matt. 6:10), they worship God and Christ (Phil. 2:9-11; Heb. 1:6), are wise (2 Sam. 14:20), mighty (Psalm 103:20), holy (Matt. 25:31), and innumerable, (Heb. 12:22). However, angels are not to be worshipped (Col. 2:18; Rev. 19:10; 22:9) since they are creatures. Are there different kinds of angels?

If it were not so slow and somber, one might be tempted to laugh at it. ANGELS AND INSECTS tells about the lives of naturalists and is set in England in 1864. The movie's purpose is to show the strong linkage between humans and insects. In one of the more pedantic editing jobs (Belinda Haas) in recent memory, we have frequent cuts between the horrors of the insect world and that of the human. Although there are several memorable insects scenes, perhaps the most dramatic is the immolation scene of the moths in the ubiquitous candles that lit the rooms of that era. A close second is a scene straight out of THE BIRDS but with moths instead of birds attaching the helpless female.

Angels What exactly is an angel? The word "angel" means messenger. Truly, this reflects the office of the angels and their relationship with humans. As such, it should be realized that the word "angel" does not properly describe their nature; it only describes what they do in relationship to us. Angels are more properly referred to as "spirits", for this is what they are. An angel is an incorporeal spirit of great power and intelligence. They are at the very pinnacle of the order of God’s creation. Their spiritual nature is closest to the image of God, and thus they have great power and intellect (although not necessarily charity). It is important to realize that an angel is not a dead human; in other words we do not become angels when we die and pass on to heaven. Angels are as different from humans as animals are from us. Humans are endowed with sentience, conscience and a measure of intellect which divides us from the animals. In a similar manner, angels are endowed with a power and intellect not proper to man. In a sense, man is a composite creation which blends the nature of the animal (corporeality, instinct, passions) with the nature of the angels (free will, intellect, conscience, sentience and rationality). Television series can do that sort of time stretch and collapse because they expect that viewers forget over the summer, when the series go into reruns, or, in the case of City of Angels , off the air altogether, for refurbishing and presumed upgrading. During this incalculable off-the-air period, it appears that the difficulties in Lillian and Ben's illicit romance became insurmountable. I feel badly about this, mainly because I thought that Fox was the most exciting and consistently surprising aspect of the show: the woman has nerve and crack timing, even when delivering the lectures on racism and sexism that too often appeared to be her primary function on the show. And yet, I'm willing to give the series sans-Vivica a chance. ngel has a beautiful tattoo on his right shoulder blade of a large Gryphon holding the letter "A". It�s similar to the type of drawing once used in texts for the first letter of a paragraph or page back in the day when books were done by hand and many were true works of art. The Gryphon represents amongst other things, the duality of nature and the wealth of the sun. Just a bit of irony there. T he inspiration for the tattoo seems to be from the Book of Kells Where it is one of the four traditional winged figures representing the Evangelists. It is the symbol for Saint Mark; with the ox representing Saint Luke; the eagle, Saint John ; and the man, Saint Matthew. The book has been in Ireland for centuries, and there is an obvious Celtic influence in the artwork. Celtic knots and circles are prevelant throughout. The book is considered a symbol of Irish nationalism. I t�s unlikely that Liam would have had an �A� tattooed on his back so chances are that Angelus had the tattoo done. Undoubtedly it stands for Angel although it could stand for Aurelius. Considering his first encounter with the Master that seems doubtful. However, nothing has been shown as to how or when the tattoo was done.
