When we found Macho on Macho beach in Puerto Rico with his face covered in dry blood, we just had to rescue him. He had lost an eye, part of his ear and his tale was broken in two places. He also had mange and was near death.
Macho was named after the beach he was rescued from. It took several months to nurse him back to health and then he was flown to Washington where we gave him the chance for the life he deserves. This motivated us to give even more of these unfortunate dogs the same chance for a life worth living.
Dedicated to helping companion animals on the island of Puerto Rico and in our own state of Washington.
We are a small, non-profit, volunteer based dog rescue group dedicated to saving abandoned, abused, neglected puppies and dogs in Puerto Rico and locally. We rescue mostly dogs in need, often nurse them back to health and find suitable and loving homes to give these dogs a chance for a life we believe they deserve.
Prior to the dogs being flown to the northwest from Puerto Rico, they are kept in private foster homes we have set up there for a minimum of three weeks to give us the chance to see the dogs' dispositions, observe personalities and evaluate their individual needs to find the best suited home.

89. Cat Shelter Near Melbourne, Victoria ... Adopt A Rescue Cat From Ingrid's Haven
Cat rescue and adoption centre near Melbourne.
The Haven needs your help
The Haven is facing some difficult times as we have been given notice on our rental property. Our landlord wants to move back in after 10 years but this has put us in an awkward position to find somewhere else to live with the cats, horses and dogs before Christmas. What will happen is yet unclear but the Haven cats are safe, I will do anything in my power to continue my shelter but I am a bit shell shocked at the moment as we are not in a position to buy a property but will have to find somewhere again to rent. I urge everyone to spread the word that I need as many cats as possible to find homes before the big move as this will make it easier for all but the same rules as always apply, everlasting safe homes and the cost for the cats will remain as I still need to pay for their veterinary care, past and present. Thank you all for your support and help in these difficult times.

91. The Pet Fund
A registered nonprofit association that provides financial assistance to owners of domestic animals who need urgent veterinary care.
Home Mission
For Applicants ... About Us Welcome to The Pet Fund website The Pet Fund is a registered 501(c) 3 nonprofit association that provides financial assistance to owners of domestic animals who need veterinary care. Often animals are put down or suffer needlessly because their owners cannot afford expensive surgery or medical treatment. Companion animal owners must often make the difficult decision to put an animal down or neglect medical needs because of the costs involved.
Thousands of animals are sent to shelters and euthanized each year, many because of treatable medical conditions. if owners have a resource to help with medical services, their animals can receive necessary care despite the financial burdens involved.
The purpose of the Pet Fund is to work towards a future where decisions about companion animal medical care need never be made on the basis of cost. Perhaps most importantly, we provide information to owners about preventative care, pet insurance programs, and financial services which will ensure that pet owners are able to develop financial resources on their own and avoid future emergencies through care and planning. Such information is often hard to find, and The Pet Fund provides a user-friendly, comprehensive starting place where all of these resources can be easily accessed.

Home About Us About CWI Achievements ... LAST CHANCE FOR WILD TIGERS? On 21-24th November, in the city of St Petersberg, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will host the International Tiger Summit to discuss tiger conservation. Several heads of state and other high level ministers are expected to attend from tiger range countries. Such a high level meeting to discuss the conservation of a single species is unprecedented. Sadly, this reflects the dire state of wild tiger populations.
This summit could literally represent the last real chance for wild tigers. We can only hope it’s successful. Rhinoceros poaching at critical levels read more >>
