OVERCOMING ANOREXIA:
A PERSONAL ACCOUNT By Alana Gable
If thin is good, thinner is better. Or so I thought. It has been many years now since I exhibited anorexic traits, and I feel that I have nearly if not completely overcome this condition that affects many people in today's society. And although my anorexic compulsions did not advance to the extent that many others with this same condition do, I am hopeful that some who read this article will feel encouraged that they, too, can overcome anorexia. Believe me, it is a freeing feeling to no longer feel trapped by the compulsive behavior associated with this condition. The basis for my anorexia began with some misconceptions I had while I was growing up. At the beginning of each new school year my mother would weigh each of her children so we could record our weight (along with height, etc.) in our "School Days" books. I don't know why, but I hated watching the numbers increase each year. Maybe it was because I was afraid of getting fat. And by all means, I didn't want to weigh 100 pounds. But as I grew, the number of pounds increased until ultimately I reached the dreaded 100 pound weight. It was then that the problems began. But other factors were also involved. I recall my father saying to me as I was growing up such things as "pull your belly in" and "do you want a belly like your mother's?". Such statements led me to believe that I was fat, when in fact I was not. I also came to fear becoming overweight like my mother.

Zusammenfassung
Geschichte

I am in the process of updating the site so please check back and feel free to send any suggestions! This web page is designed for people like me, who were once addicted to pro-ana web sites and are now seeking recovery from their eating disorder. I started on this web page after I got out of treatment for the last time and wanted to use it as a way of motivation. The more I worked, the more I hoped that this site could help other people too. Recovery is not easy... we all know that. I would say it is by far the hardest thing I have gone through in my life. That is why I think we really need to help each other out. Just as with pro-ana I want you to find support here but for your recovery. I have nothing bad to say about people who started up pro-ana sites because I do see their meaning but I would just hope that you could find something more to life. Going day to day starving yourself is not a life! It took me a long time to realize that! Please stay and look around. If you have any suggestions please contact me. I would like to know how you think this web site could better help you. Don't forget to sign the guest book!

I need to go to school. Ive got so lazy and used to doing the same shit every day that it just scares the shit out of me just thinking of college. If I dont I will be stuck being a fucking sonic carhop, kissing ass for tips. Tip your car hops! We have to get out in the freeing ass cold and slip on ice then bust or asses. That happend to me. Everyone laughed. Such assholes. Not that summer is any better. My poor tiny titties will sweat so much. Ive sweated in place i didnt no i had being a car hop. Fuck you guys who ask carhops to come in and out for sauces and shit like that. If you make me do the extra work then you better at least give me a dollar or a blow job.
Uh, well, anyways thats about how it is without goig into details and I dont feel like typing for-fucking-ever.

WE BITE BACK
Post-Pro-ana has finally arrived.
Welcome to We Bite Back , the first post-pro-anorexia website! Please read Biting Anorexia by Lucy Howard Taylor.
[Foreword by We Bite Back founder, Sharon Hodgson.] This is the site that comes after the madness. Before we came along, there was no place for people to go who found support on pro-ana forums, communities and email lists who didn't want to do the ana thing anymore. Welcome to the first web site designed specifically for post-pro-anorexics. We represent a worldwide virtual network of people proactively seeking recovery and happiness with the same dedication that proanas apply to seeking lower goal weights. We are striving to Postmodernize the online eating disorder community by challenging the pro-ana metanarrative. Have thinspiration pictures lost all appeal? Maybe you just want them to lose their grip on you. Want a roadmap to recovery? It isn't impossible if you have a support network! Find bulimic behavior returning like a bad habit? You might find a verbal, written purge helps you deal with the seed of the problem motivating your disordered eating habits. Wonder what it would be like to finally not be punishing yourself for punishing yourself in an endless cycle?
