What We Do Mission
Pacific Arabic Resources is a private, secular, nonpolitical language school serving the growing community of people interested in learning standard and colloquial Arabic. Our instruction makes it possible for everyone to achieve their language goals while enjoying the process in a stimulating and supportive environment. Our Classes With six academic terms per year, chances are good that classes are starting soon. Registration is limited, ensuring support and personal attention for all students. All classes meet in downtown San Francisco, at 55 New Montgomery Street, Suite 713 (only a half block from the Montgomery Street MUNI / BART station). Curriculum We believe that Arabic is a living language and should be taught as such. Every class includes oral drills and conversation practice. We offer not only Standard Arabic but also dialects from across the Arab world. Students with no prior exposure to the Arabic language start with our Arabic 1 class, where they will learn the writing system and basic conversation. From there, they may continue our three-year program through Advanced Arabic 6. In addition to our core curriculum, we offer classes in conversation, literature, calligraphy, pronunciation and regional spoken Arabic. Visit our

When I was a kid, probably some time in the mid 70's, Bill Cosby had a television show which was largely animated. The main characters were a group of black boys, one of which had really huge lips. This boy inserted "b+V" after every vowel, also duplicating the vowel afterwards. I-bai do-bon't kno-bow wha-butt you-bu mea-been. I don't know what you mean. ***the show was "Fat Albert"*** ************************************************************************* *Marion Kee <Marion.Kee garnet.berkeley.edu> described a few games..* ******************************************************************** [A] couple of acquaintances of mine from several years ago [...] frequently conversed in what they called "Bicycle". Why "Bicycle" I have no idea. I couldn't follow their conversations but the general rule seemed to be to insert schwa + s after every consonant unless the consonant is final. (Like I said, I couldn't speak it then, much less now, but this is what I remember....) M
