Gather an assortment of real leaves. Have the children press the foliage onto an ink pad or a paper plate coated with a thin layer of paint. Push the leaf onto a piece of paper, smoothing it carefully to produce a complete leaf impression. Repeat the process using different types of leaves and ink colors. If younger kids find it difficult to stamp with the delicate leaves, let them make impressions with washable paint and kitchen sponges cut into leaf shapes or leaf-shaped foam stamps sold at craft or scrap booking stores. Give each person a terracotta or plastic pot and an assortment of craft supplies like washable paints, pine cone stickers and self-adhesive foam shapes like flowers and leaves.
