OTTOMAN BUILDINGS KAIROUAN MOSQUE ARCHITECTURAL TERMS MINARET MOSQUE Kairouan (about 800 AD) The first buildings that were built in the Islamic Empire were designed by Greek architects who had already been living in the area when the Arabs conquered it. Because of that, these buildings look a lot like earlier buildings in the area - Late Roman Empire buildings. But because they were now building Islamic mosques and not Christian churches , these Greek architects were able to experiment with some new forms, developing a new Islamic style. One of the earliest mosques is the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, from the 600's AD . It's octagonal, like Hadrian's Pantheon , instead of being cross-shaped like a Christian church . In the late 700's AD, the new Arab rulers of North Africa marked their new territory by building great mosques like the one at Kairouan (modern Tunisia) and the one at Cordoba in Spain.

Quality systems come from quality architectures. Quality architectures must come from you. Overview Getting Started Research Consulting ... Our People
    Overview
Architecture serves as the blueprint for both the system and the project developing it, defining the work assignments that must be carried out by design and implementation teams. The architecture is the primary carrier of system qualities, such as performance, modifiability, and security, none of which can be achieved without a unifying architectural vision. Architecture is an artifact for early analysis to make sure that the design approach will yield an acceptable system. Architecture holds the key to postdeployment system understanding, maintenance, and mining efforts. In short, architecture is the conceptual glue that holds every phase of the project together for all its many stakeholders.
    Software Architecture Benefits
When you take the time to properly design, implement, document, and evaluate a software architecture, you can
    • predict, achieve, and control quality attribute behavior and make practical tradeoffs early

Webmaster Erik Mr. Borneman Mayan Architecture - Guatemala "Strong cultural influences stemming from the Olmec tradition and from Teotihuacan contributed to the development of Classic Maya culture. As with Teotihuacan, Maya civilization's foundations were laid in the Preclassic period, perhaps by 600 B.C. or even earlier. At that time, the Maya, who occupied the moist low-land areas of Belize, southern Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras, seemed to have abandoned their early somewhat egalitarian pattern of village life and adopted a heirarchical autocratic society. This system evolved into the typical Maya city-state governed by hereditary rulers and ranked nobility. How and why this happened is still uncertain. - Gardner's Art Through The Ages , 11th edition, Vol. I, p. 391
