Art Lesson Plan Ideas - K-6 Grade Art Class
Art is a subject that can be integrated with any other subject. It allows children to be creative and express themselves in new ways. It is just as important at and early age as it is throughout the primary grades. Art is a great way for young students to practice fine motor skills. At the elementary level students should start learning about the elements of art which include: line, shape, texture, color, space and composition, light and shadow, perspective, emotion and mood.
Some researchers say that the arts is the fourth R. Art can bring many contributions such as motivation, ways of communicating, creativity, problem solving skills, self-understanding, confidence, respect, concentration, self-discipline, sensitivity for diversity.

Monday , 9.43 am Dear Martial Arts Instructor,
I want to share with you some of my favorite drills that you can use in your classes today. The reason I like these drills so much is that they get great results, and are used by some of the world's best competitors and teachers. They're not "time fillers" for your classes for when you run out of ideas, like a friend of mine who ended up playing musical chairs out of sheer desperation... They're proven. They're effective. And they're easy to learn and teach. Download my "5 Dynamite Drills and Exercises" Ebook and you'll learn:
  • A great endurance drill to build strong legs as used by World Karate Federation (WKF) Champion, Elisa Au

"As a class, I have students create a drawing. I usually have students take turns going up to the board and give them 30 seconds to draw something (once they get the chalk). Once the person is done, the next student picks up where they left off. You can ask students to create pictures of anything (appropriate, of course.) If you want to make it harder, add a theme. Tell students to draw an animal or place. It's really neat to see everyone's perspective." Favorite Teaching Tips: Behavior Management Classroom Management Ice Breakers Seating Arrangements ... Tips for Teaching High School Art
posted February 11, 2008 - 8:52pm Tips for Teaching High School Art
Are you a new art teacher? Feeling overwhelmed yet? Ready to run? Don't worry, with time you'll find teaching art is a rewarding, exciting careeryou chose wisely! Teaching high school art is a whole different world than elementary. I firmly believe that certain personalities work better with different age groups. Don't feel guilty if the idea of teaching elementary schoolers seems horrifying. Or maybe you're totally comfortable there. Having taught all ages, I have to say that teaching high school art was by far my favorite. It fit with my personality type. But, there are pros and cons to every age. The little ones love you, love art, love to learn. They can barely contain their excitement. The high schoolers stare at you with a vague, empty look that makes you feel like you're speaking a different language. Heaven forbid they seem interested. You make a jokeno one laughs. Get used to laughing at your own jokes.
Here are a few tips:
Like I said, if you feel like you're with the wrong age groupyou probably are, follow your gut. Make the switch when possible.

    Martial Arts Business Daily
Last year I told you about Mike Massie, author of Small Dojo Big Profits , which shows you step by step how to set up a successful and profitable martial arts business without ripping off your students. It's a must-have small business guide for the martial arts industry.
Anyway, last week when I was chatting with Mike he told me about a new venture he's just launched called " Martial Arts Business Daily " or MABD for short. Essentially it's a martial arts news portal - complete with blog and newsfeed. There's plenty of great content here that will help you in running your school and staying ahead of your competition.
If you own a copy of Small Dojo Big Profits you know the quality of Mike's work and the detail of his advice. MABD is no exception - he's already posted dozens of articles full of helpful information for teachers and business owners. Heck, he surprised me by including one of my articles on his front page. Thanks Mike!
Anyway, if you want to stay aware of industry trends, keep informed of what's going on and get a ton of advice for running your karate school, visiting MABD regularly is a good habit to acquire.
