If we attempt to separate the variously woven strands, one from another, we may see a deeper level of truth for one strand, but we risk losing the unity of them all. In The Unity of All Things , we consider how the entire cosmos is held together in a single unity; and how within this unity. The Land gives life to all things; and how we, human beings, live in this great unity in The Kingdom and how we connect to this unity through the earthly embodiment of The King The Underworld and the Otherworld are an important parts of all the stories because that is here where much of the action in the stories originates, and Fairies populate this magical world. The Grail Quest explores the spiritual search at the heart of Arthurian Mythology.

Arthurian mythology - Definition
The Matter of Britain is a name given collectively to the legends that concern the Celtic and legendary history of the British Isles , centering around King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table . The twelfth century French poet Jean Bodel created the name in a chanson de geste he wrote, the Chanson de Saisnes , in which appear the lines:
De France et de Bretaigne, et de Rome la grant. (There are but 3 literary cycles that no one should be without: the matter of France, of Britain, and of great Rome.)
The name distinguishes and relates the Matter of Britain from the mythological themes taken from classical antiquity , the " matter of Rome ," and the tales of the paladins of Charlemagne and their wars with the Moors and Saracens , which constituted the " matter of France ." While Arthur is the chief subject of the Matter of Britain, other lesser-known legendary history of the British Isles, including Brutus of Britain Old King Cole King Lear , and Gogmagog is also included in the subjects covered by the Matter of Britain: see King of the Britons Contents showTocToggle("show","hide")

Arthur represents the Golden Age of Chivalry . His band of warriors, known as the Knights of the Round Table , became just as famous as the legendary king. There were the knights Lancelot and Gawain, Perceval and Galahad, Tristan and many more. Here, Timeless Myths bring back to life, the Age of King Arthur Arthurian Legends contain tales and knightly romances from Geoffrey of Monmouth to Sir Thomas Malory. Arthurian Legend and Mythology
The legendary story of King Arthur and his noble knights of the round table is known throughout the world. The names of Arthur Merlin Lancelot , and Guinevere (to but name a few) invoke great thoughts of knights in shining armor, love, honor, and battle. Camelot was the most famous castle in medieval literature and was where Arthur established this noble court full of great and chivalrous warriors. The mythology of Camelot, and the story of Arthur has been told over the centuries with many different versions and spins. The Arthurian literary cycle is the best known part of the Matter of Britain. It has succeeded largely because it tells two interlocking stories that many later authors have been intrigued by. One concerns Camelot, usually envisioned as a doomed utopia of chivalric virtue, undone by the fatal flaws of Arthur and Sir Lancelot. The other concerns the quests of the various knights to achieve the Holy Grail; some succeed (Galahad, Percival), and others fail (Lancelot). The medieval tale of Arthur and his knights is full of Christian themes; those themes involve the destruction of human plans for virtue by the moral failures of their characters, and the quest for an important Christian relic. Finally, the relationships between the characters invited treatment in the tradition of courtly love, such as Lancelot and Guinevere, or Tristan and Iseult. In more recent years, the trend has been to attempt to link the tales of King Arthur and his knights with Celtic mythology, usually in highly romanticized, early twentieth century reconstructed versions.

The sword was until recently thought to be fake [photo: Enigma Galgano] The story of the "sword in the stone" from the legend of King Arthur, originates in Italy not the Celtic fringes of Britain or France, a new book by an Italian scholar argues. In The Enigma of San Galgano, Mario Moiraghi cites scientific tests which date a sword embedded in a rock in an abbey in Tuscany to the year 1180, decades before the first literary reference to the sword. He adds that an inquiry which led to the canonisation of Saint Galgano, the knight believed to have put the sword in the stone, contains a series of facts identical to the legend of Sir Percival, the finder of the Holy Grail. In a previous book, Mr Moiraghi suggested that other elements of Arthur's legend originated in Persia.

A sword forged in Dragon's breath and the cornerstone of Arthurian mythology by TIFFANY VOGT , Posted Aug-3-2009 Comments Disabled This article may contain spoilers. Delving deeper into the Arthurian lore, this week introduced the mystical sword Excalibur, which was created to defeat the Black Knight brought back from the dead by the dark sorceress Nimeuh. As the newly appointed Crown Prince, Arthur threw down the gauntlet to avenge his fellow knights' deaths. Yet his stubborn adherence to the Knight's Code was in vain. For a battle of mortal combat against the Black Knight is suicidal as he cannot be killed. The Black Knight is a wraith and it can only be destroyed by magic. Thus, Merlin came up with a brilliant plan to have a sword forged in dragon's breath in order to save Arthur. However, in a sudden fit of courage and out of love for his son, Uther usurped this cleverly-conceived plan and fought in Arthur's place. It was an episode recalling, yet again, that the sins of the father will haunt him for eternity and we finally found out the root of Uther's hatred of magic. In appealing to Nimeuh to bless his barren wife with a son, Nimeuh had failed to mention that in order to create a new life, another life must be sacrificed and as a result, Uther's wife died in childbirth.

It may seem like every day that Nicolas Cage releases a new movie, but it's far less frequent that critics and reporters get to talk to him about them. His latest is The Sorcerer's Apprentice Jay Baruchel , who can possibly carry his wand (and we mean that literally). What's interesting about Cage is the way in which he really constructs his character, a kind of method beneath the seeming madness, and in the film, which is directed by his National Treasure helmer (and longtime friend) Jon Turtletaub , the actor turns in a predictably, uh, unpredictable, but always watchable performance as Balthazar.
Cinematical spoke to the cast and crew at The Sorcerer's Apprentice Los Angeles press day, where Cage, Baruchel, and Turtletaub described their experiences making the film. But rather than simply providing a prosaic rundown of all of their comments, we've picked a few choice quotes that reveal the most important and interesting facets about the movie.
