February 19, 2010 Aruban Resort reopens with Aruba Government Bailout Summary: When a casino needs a bailout, the poor are beyond broke! Boycott Watch previously reported the Aruba Resort and Casino has closed as a result of the Aruba boycott. Today, it officially reopened with a new owner, Royal Resort, and because of a bailout by the already cash-strapped Aruba government. The fact that Aruba had to bail out the hotel says much about the failed economy of Aruba related to the boycott of the island nation triggered by the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. The hotel and casino were not viable despite that casinos generally bring in loads of cash. Not anymore. Since the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, business at the resort has been down, forcing the casino to close between 10 and 11PM, even on weekends, because of a lack of business.
