Topics Physics Astronomy ... How to build a sidereal pointer to help us to locate the position of a celestial body
In this article, we talk about the construction of a sidereal pointer. It is an instrument that allows you to localize each celestial object in the night sky, just knowing its coordinates. Difficulty : Elementary school Collecting micrometeorites
This science fair project was performed to find the best way of collecting and observing micrometeorites. The samples were collected from a roof, the leaf of an outdoor plant and rain water. Difficulty : Elementary school How to build a homemade magnetometer to study how the earth's magnetic fields are affected by solar storms
Solar storms can affect the Earth's magnetic field causing small changes in its direction at the surface which are called 'magnetic storms'. A magnetometer operates like a sensitive compass and senses these slight changes. The soda bottle magnetometer is a simple device that can be built for under $5.00 which will let students monitor these changes in the magnetic field that occur inside the class Difficulty : High school How to calculate the distance of the sun and the moon from earth, by understanding eclipses

Science Fair Astronomy Projects
In school pupils need to do science investigations and science projects as part of their learning. It can be fun. But learning how to experiment, research and present results are also useful skillsit isn't just for science fairs.
Since these skills need to be learned, I've been searching for useful resources that both educators and pupils could use. Here is some good general guidance for you and lots of ideas for astronomy and space projects.

Do you feel that your telescope is just too small?
Here's a friendly place for you to hang out if you get the feeling that your small telescope just isn't big enough to do anything with. To show what you can do with a modest instrument, there are pages of observations and photographs of the moon and planets taken through instruments as small as 2 inch (50mm) aperture, and no bigger than 6 inch (150mm). Though I've been an amateur astronomer for some 45 years (and a professional astronomer for some of that time), I primarily use small and modest sized telescopes. I've been through aperture fever, having owned up to a 10 inch behemoth Newtonian on an Equatorial mount, but my biggest telescopes are 6 inch Newtonians.

Color Look up at the sky - what do you see? If you're near a city, you may see a few bright white stars. But you're not really seeing the full story of the sky - stars come in a dazzling array of colors, from bright blue to white to deep red. In this project, you'll see stars of all colors, and you'll learn what causes the color of a star. Spectral Types How do astronomers make sense of the millions of stars they see? In this project, you will learn by classifying the stars yourself. Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram Learn how astronomers study the lives and times of stars, which live for millions or billions of years. Galaxies How do astronomers study galaxies, which can be millions or billions of light-years away - so far away that most just look like fuzzy patches of light? In the Galaxies project, you will learn by examining galaxies yourself. Sky Surveys Learn about how astronomers map the sky, from ancient times to today's cutting edge technology.
